Baptism=inward sign of an outward change and I don't think it's appropriate for infants and young children. Although it is not true that all conservatives are stupid, it is true that most stupid people are conservative. John Stuart Mill ************ It's much harder to be a liberal than a conservative. Why? Because it is easier to give someone the finger than a helping hand. Mike Royko |

Forge User ID: 1327977 Canada 11/13/2011 01:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There is no longer any need to be baptized. Baptism was for the jewish people in the Old Testament. Now we only need to accept Jesus Christ as our saviour. See Romans 10. On another note your older daughter doesn't have a hope in finding Truth if left on her own. Even the youngest is not following the Word of God. Forget churches and denominations, it's the Bible that needs to be read. Find a preacher or minister who uses only the Word of God as in the Authorized King James Bible found here for free [link to www.bibleprotector.com] and listen here for the Word of God from that bible [link to tsabibleschool.com] Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers (Eph. 4:29) |

Don't push either of them one way or the other. But, don't stop them from doing things that can't hurt them either. Baptism is supposed to be from the heart, if the younger wants it, let her do it. Faith isn't a competition. None of us starts at exactly the same place. And we can progress only at our own pace. Remember the story of the tortoise and the hare? They both finished the race...that's what counts in the end. |

And shame on your family for giving her a hard time for it. That's equal to bullying and peer pressure. She'll resent you all if she's forced into it when she wants no part. She's a free human being, or at least supposed to be. |

(Beckley,WV) Most people here are closed minded and stuck in their ways. It's hard to have an intelligent converstion with people who believe a certain way just because their parents did and their parents did and so on, and so on... I hope something happens to break this archaeic spell that affects so, so many people in this area... |

No one should pressure a person to either be baptized or not be baptized. It's between the individual and God. Feel free to make your younger daughter's baptism a special event. Pick up a cake, have a barbeque, give her a gift to memorialize the occasion. Then pull your older daughter on the side and privately give her a special gift as well to show her that you love her and respect her choice just as much. |

ChristiansCreatedMarilynManson User ID: 10093873 United States 02/03/2012 08:59 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My kids go to Sunday school with my mom every Sunday. It's a Freewill Baptist church. My oldest daughter is in middle school and my youngest is in 3rd grade. The youngest just got home and said the entire church is getting baptized next Sunday and she wanted too. My oldest wants nothing to do with it. My question is this... Other than the old folklore of John baptizing Jesus, what is the real purpose of this? My family is giving my oldest daughter shit about not wanting to participate, but I am all about letting them make their own choice... I just don't see a reason to force a smart young lady into an age old practice against her will. Anybody want to shed some light on this for me? Thanks... But the way I see it, you've only got to be yourself to go to hell. |

Forcing, ridicule is bad. When she wants it, she'll do it. She'll likely be more committed to her baptism and the rules she is required to follow if it is something that she wants. |

Quoting: Nick918 817672 Please, let them choose. I went along for the ride to0 when I was about 13. When I turned 33 I realized what the true babtism is-an inner process of purification. It doesn't matter. Give them a choice. |

You may not believe in something but it doesn't change that something. Jesus Christ is real, lived and died for us to have eternal life. Quoting: Forge You really are letting down those daughters of yours. By not allowing them to choose??? That water dunking is nothing and I know ignorant one! |

Sandi_T User ID: 1301649 United States 02/03/2012 09:18 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Originally, baptism was an Eastern tradition. It symbolized dying to the ego and being reborn into a New Life, gained through enlightenment. Christianity stole this practice and turned it into a gory ritual that "bathes you in blood". But it's okay, because it's jesus' blood and therefor could NEVER be gross or gory... Just as Christianity has the ritual of blood drinking and flesh eating... which is also beautiful and so, so, so exquisite and not sick at all because it's jesus' blood and flesh they are gobbling. If your daughter does not want to bathe in blood or hold cannibalistic rituals, then why would you pressure her into it? Certainly the fact that they are SYMBOLIC decreases how disgusting it is... but by how much? If any other religion symbolized blood drinking and dunking each other in blood, we'd all be horrified. It's past time we quit pretending it's not sick just because christians are doing it. (if any system forbids a challenge then that system = cult too) WOW THAT IS CULTIST BEHAVIOR, if their system is ROCK solid?!? then it could stand the test of weighing against all other systems, couldn't it?!? Unfortunately it cannot stand in the Great light of The Bible It hates ALL the things of God that's why it has a Counterfeit for everything. Even a Counterfeit New Covenant Their commandments delete the Second Commandment About Idolatry, because Their Church Kisses and prays to Idols. God's Original Holy Commandments are the New Covenant!
