The first link below has a message from Joey Herrick, President of Natural Balance Pet Foods. [link to www.naturalbalanceinc.com] If what Joey Herrick, President of Natural Balance Pet Foods is saying in that video is correct then how could Diamond Pet Foods update there website today on 5/6/2012 as explained above and not add Natural Balance Pet Foods to the recall list when Diamond talked with the President of Natural Balance Pet Foods on 5/4/2012 and asked him to do a recall and he called in his employees and had a list as of 5/4/2012 and had 18 employees come in on 5/5/2012 to answer questions for customers and all of his employees today 5/6/2012 then how when we know Diamond at least knew on 5/4/2012 did they not update the information. Someones trying to hide something???????? "FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – May 5, 2012 Diamond Pet Foods today announced that it is expanding a voluntary recall to include batches of nine brands of dry pet food formulas manufactured between December 9, 2011 and April 7, 2012 due to potential Salmonella contamination. In April 2012, Diamond Pet Foods initiated three voluntary recalls of Diamond manufactured dry dog food. Although none of the additional products being recalled have tested positive for Salmonella, the company is pulling them from store shelves as a precaution. Diamond Pet Foods is coordinating efforts with federal and state health and regulatory agencies and decided to independently expand the recall to ensure the safety and well-being of customers and their pets. The company stated: “We have taken corrective actions at our Gaston, S.C., facility and voluntarily expanded the recall out of concern for our customers and their pets.” Brands included in the recall include: •Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul •Country Value •Diamond •Diamond Naturals •Premium Edge •Professional •4Health •Taste of the Wild The Kirkland Signature products included in the recall include: ..." So then if those right there add up to nine how can Natural Balance be missing when Diamond knew on 5/4/2012 when telling Joey Herrick and issued a new press release on 5/5/2012 when Joey Herrick made the video for Natural Balance and we know there were 3 more added today 5/6/2012 then moments later removed. There were at least 2 new ones Apex and Canidae that I knew of and Kirkland at least not hidden???? So there should be 12 if my math is correct? And Diamond states they have: "151 Checks 141 Ingredient Tests. 10 Final Product Checks. Zero Compromises. Here's what goes into every Diamond product: •Each of our products undergoes a rigorous quality control process prior to shipment, including 141 ingredient tests and 10 final product quality and safety checks. •Diamond uses only the highest-quality ingredients. •Every Diamond Pet Foods product is Precision Formulated™ for content, quality, consistency and uniformity. •Diamond is audited regularly by a highly respected independent laboratory for food safety, quality and palatability. •We only sell products that we would be proud to feed to our own pets. Look for our 151 Quality Checks stamp on every Diamond product. It marks our commitment to quality." HMM????? |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 15452414 BOIL chicken and rice for your dog My dog loves that and I think I will with a couple of veggies added. I think I read somewhere peas are good for them. Stay away from onions though. Also, with the hormones they inject into the animals can't be good for them either. Disgusting though it has come to this. |

I am sick and tired of companies acting like they can get by with anything. Guess it comes from the top down. :( Anyway, Taste of The Wild is what I decided on and had just bought my second bag last night when I found this out. There are to many people out there who aren't even aware of it. Only a couple of youtube videos about it. I guess it is the same company who had a mold problem. I researched and researched before deciding on TOTW then chose it because of the good reviews. But its like the pink slime in our beef they dont tell us because they think its good for us. Let me be the judge of that. I guess you really can't go wrong with rice and chicken although like I said the hormones. What a truely sick world we live in. How could this get by 151 checks and balances? Please, these companies could care less in my opinion. |

That's seriously lacking in nutrition. Make sure to add some internal organs and some ground chicken/turkey for the calcium. (They usually grind the small bones up with the poultry.) |

Too costly and too time consuming to feed natural chicken on a regular basis. I love the dog, but he will do fine on this kibble and leftovers :-) Thanks again. I missed the related post. |

We know this is all a little confusing and we are working as best we can to communicate the most up-to-date information to all of our fans. Many have asked whether cat food is included in the recall. Unfortunately, yes, certain batches of dry cat food are included in the recall. We have an information line set up and our team can walk you through what you should do if the product you have is part of the recall. Give us a call anytime between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. EST at 866-918-8756. |

Quoting: Juliebean Luckily I am not In the recall area and my nearly empty bag is safe. Thanks for the post OP!!! Call of the wild is really good stuff. My dog loved it. Shined his coat right up. However, 2 weeks ago, I opted for Diamond. Less expensive etc... Willie will eat anything under the sun. Great Dane/Lab mix. But he was not about to eat that Diamond food. He would grab a kibble here and there but would not have a meal. After 2 days I noticed he was throwing up bile. That night I recieved the email from Amazon (where I get my dogfood) that both Call of the wild and Diamond were recalled. Don't you know, the production code on my Diamond bag is a recalled one. So I went to the store on bought his back up. He's fine now. He was smart enough to know something was wrong with it. |

It's amazing how many brands are tied together, funny, some of that stuff is so much more expensive and look..they still contain the same CRAP in the end. Ugh. [link to diamondpetrecall.com] |

Laura Bow User ID: 1158661 United States 05/08/2012 09:37 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Re: Diamond Pet Foods Expands Voluntary Recall of Dry Pet Food Due to Potential Salmonella Contamination of Dogs and Humans I don't get it...don't these animals (dogs and cats) consume bacteria ridden food that would make a human ill with no problem? My cats eat raw chicken all the time but I am sure if I tried that stunt I'd pay dearly with a case of food poisoning. I have had salmonella poisoning before when I worked at a chicken plant long ago and that is some unpleasant shit. However, dogs and cats eat this with no problem...right? Just been my experience, that a dog will even eat shit and seem no worse for the wear. Are people eating this pet food and is that the true reason for the recall? Seems pointless to recall pet food over pets designed to process these kinds of bacteria. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1324238 Most probably could and do digest it with no issues, but if you're feeding it to an elderly, sick, or young pup there may be a possibility that they do get ill. Also, I think it's because they're worried the people that feed their dogs the food, touch the bowl, etc. and not wash their hands would also possibly get sick. |
