No one is more heartbroken about Friday's horror in Connecticut than me, except for the families of those lost. So I will say that first - before anyone misunderstands my intent or my priorities. Protecting the innocent among us IS my first priority - starting with my own family.

This post will cover a lot of ground, so be prepared. Grab a Coke, go smoke first, maybe do a bathroom break then you can read this.

I will whole-heartedly have an honest and thoughtful debate about gun control when (1) someone can answer the question of why dozens of government agencies not involved in law enforcement ordered millions of rounds of hollow-point ammunition, outlawed by the Geneva Convention, and (2) someone in government is held accountable for providing 174,000 fully automatic weapons to be procured by Mexican drug cartels, with several hundred confirmed deaths as a direct result. Until then - anyone in government or media has no room to talk in this debate.

If you truly understood why our founders gave us the second amendment - this would not even be a debate.

You want to know how to stop a 'bad guy' with a gun?

You need a 'good guy' with a gun.

When people call police to help them against an armed attacker, it is not the officer that restores the peace.

It is the gun.

We live in a world full of evil. It has been this way since Cain slew his brother Abel. It will be this way until the end if days. We life in a world that is governed by the use of force.

It is just that simple.

If someone comes at you with a stick to hurt you, how do you stop them?

You need a bigger stick.

The tribe with sticks will most likely avoid the tribe that now has clubs.

I don't condone violence. I am against violence in all it's forms. But that does NOT mean that I believe violence can never be justified.

Violence when used in protection of the innocent is justifiable, both ethically and also religiously. Even Ghandi, a well-known advocate of non-violent revolution, stated this position.

If you truly want to prevent another catastrophe like this, then provide armed guards in the schools. Give principals or other campus administrators training, and access to a locked firearms cabinet that only they have access to. In this day and age of terrorist plots, this should have been thought of well before this incident happened.

We should not act rashly when having this debate. It really doesn't matter if you are anti-gun or don't like firearms. You should be opposed to the abolition of the 2nd amendment anyway. Why?

Because if the 2nd amendment goes away, 'for our own good', then....

Your freedom of association goes away, 'for your own good'. You don't want any group large enough in one place that could create animosity if any kind. This could include churches. Can't have congregations too big, they might 'misunderstand' something in the scriptures regarding their duty to this or that - and be 'a problem'.

Your freedom of speech goes away, because after all, we don't want people to incite problems somewhere. Or to say something that might offend someone. Or to question the "official government account" of any issue; wouldn't want folks questioning the State. Not good.

Your right to vote goes away. After all, the vast majority of the American people have only a high-school education; there is no way the "masses" can understand the ramifications of domestic and global policy. Better to let appointed overseers select our leaders.

I am not a Republican. I am not a Democrat. I am a Constitutional Libertarian. I have nothing but contempt for both major parties, because they do not represent the American people anymore, and haven't for some time now.

But more than anything I am angry at my fellow citizens. Many Americans do not understand their heritage, their rights, and most of all their responsibilities.

Those of you who want a Utopian society, free of conflict and struggle, free of risk with only reward, have helped to create this mess we find ourselves in.

And the answers you are giving to 'fix' this mess are what will put the final nail in America's coffin.

I am very angry. Not because of the gun control debate that is happening now, but because those who are calling for this debate are, in part, responsible for these sad, unimaginable acts.

The shooters in these cases are to blame. They made a choice. Period. It is what it is.

But when people do not understand that there are evil people, or damaged people, or unhinged people, or overly-medicated people, or....you get the idea..... and CHOOSE to restrict the right of law-abiding people to defend themselves anyway - "because we are building a better society or community" - you are denying thousands of years of evidence of the evils of human nature. You will never legislate human nature out of humans.

This tragedy could not have been stopped. In a free society, we are all dependent on each other to "act right". Tragedies happen when someone for whatever reason decides to "act badly".

But the damage the killer did could have been limited. He would have probably killed some, but not all. If one life could have been saved then the measures I proposed earlier would have been worth it.

And don't tell me that laws of ANY kind, regarding any instrument gun or not, will make a difference. A criminal by definition Does. Not. Obey. Laws.

Anything you say regarding "more laws" after thst statement is null and void.

We can talk about regulations, and we probably should.

Sorry for the rant folks. This tragedy has hit me emotionally on several fronts. Most of all for the families of the lost, because I KNOW this could have been stopped. And also because I see my country under attack by those who don't understand they are being used in an attempt to destroy the kind of country we are, which is unique to the whole world.

Or maybe they do.

Either way my sadness has turned to anger.

He's right on target! But, we don't need ANY regulation.

Well said!

It is inevitable for the vast majority of the peopledo not know their heritage. They and most likely their parents are descendants of people who avoided making a stand, or avoided going to war. They are prodigies of people who avoided Vietnam, and those who loth the military. While good Americans died serving their country or to protect freedoms, their parents ran off to Canada or avoided the draft through various means. So in time, the population of the country became almost exclusively made up of people who needed one excuse after another to make themselves feel important. Thus became the birth of the progressive liberal whose sold effort is to make the world agree with their image.

When the battle begins in 2013, these progressives will hide again, and those Americans who love freedom will again sacrifice their own lives for honor and freedom for their families. When its all over and the conservatives and libertarians have again pushed back the evil, progressives will emerge trying to change the world into their brand of utopia once again.

Hopefully this time, the world will see them for what they are, and kill them as they emerge.
