Strange Earthquake.

No pics to show. The quake felt like a 3 or 4, which is normal around here. but that pulse before the quake started really freaked me out.

and it seemed to go nuts when you are reporting feeling your quake

I have been having internet problems all day today. on and off.

This pulse was just weird. It was like it was coming strait up from the ground and through me sitting there. The speed of the pulse was like a machine gun. real fast but consistent. Then the pulse stopped and the earthquake started right away. Just so weird.

It usually take about 30 min before I see it online. So anytime now it should show up.

The quake did not scare me but that pulse first has got me freaked.

Did anyone else you know of feel this pulse?

Well I can add is that the near simultaneous fuku prefecture quake I was notified to via sound using that ustream site was rather 'sudden' and not like other quakes I have seen or heard with that realtime monitor... it kinda scared me a bit.

to short of a lead-in so to speak.

Not yet I am waiting for my wife to get home, and I will ask her if she felt it. It was just me and the baby outside at the time.

If I was a sci-fi guy, I would say some kind of device made those pulses. just very consistent... then wham the quake started, shook for about 5 to 10 seconds and stopped.
No damage, and the quake was the typical swaying motion. But the pulse felt like it was coming from the center of the earth strait up through the ground and I felt it resonate through my body. Super freaky. My adrenalin is still flowing.

It will be interesting to know if anyone else felt this prior to the quake.
Reason i say this is the first EQ i felt (a wave flowing through on side of my body) was in Oct 2011 Christchurch EQ. I felt another - a jolt PRIOR to another Christchurch EQ...all this before the EQ happened. I felt another which was on Dec 7th - a Japan 7.3 (Honshu), this time it was a sway...no one else in family felt these at all. This Japan one was a special event (explain next time).
I have since discovered a few things about why i felt CERTAIN EQ's, and also discovered few people around the globe who have had similar experiences.
Have bookmarked this link, and will wait for your conclusion of this pulse, whether others felt it generally, or it was only you?

Just watching on tweetgrid that there has been reports of a near 5 mag off NZ and some kind of huge explosion or seimological event happened in Iran!!!!!

Ok back now.

The wife is here and sadly she did not feel the pulse or the quake itself as she was in a cab at the time. I will ask our other relatives when they come home later tonight.

Manila here. Nothing out of the ordinary was felt by any of us.

The quake was pretty close to where I live in Mindanao. The strange thing is I have felt hundreds of quakes since I moved here 7 years ago. Even that big one 7. something not to long ago. They have been all the same swaying type, I call normal quakes. This is the first time I felt that pulse and it freaked me out. Maybe I am becoming "aware" or something. lol..

Anyway there will be more quakes i am sure, and i will see if I get that pulse again. I will ask others later tonight if they felt anything to.

Just talked to my neighbor and he felt the quake also. He described it like a big dump truck driving by, then the sway of the quake. So I am not sure if what I felt as a pulse is what he described as the dump truck feeling.

He thought is was just normal quake though.

so it seems that so far you are the only one who felt a pulse PRIOR to the quake?
If thats the case, you may be right about 'awareness' or increased sensitivity.....keep in touch Boro...post again if prior knowledge occurs in the near future......

An earth directed CME went off earlier. I felt it and checked and sure enough it had just emitted and is headed this way.
