Anyone ever try mirror scrying?
It takes some time but staring in the mirror in just the right light triggers something if you're patient enough. Maybe it's just screwing with the way the brain is hardwired to recognize faces or construct them (some perversion of apophenia maybe), or else it's further than that. I always see a face with lips moving, but cannot figure out if I'm just exhausted or what.

Re: Anyone ever try mirror scrying?
Please do elaborate, brother.

I have heard the term scrying, always used with reference to a mirror.

I know nothing about the art....But I have heard certain stories regarding mirrors:

1. Never look at your own reflection in a mirror while having a spiritual mushroom experience.

2. As a child, there were the Halloween stories and "Dares" and "Double Dares" to look in the mirror in low light at midnight on Halloween, and repeat, "Bloody Mary" thrice...and she was to appear in the mirror.

Would you explain more in depth your knowledge of the subject, please?

In ancient Greece, warriors and mystic philosophers would as a rite of passage, be brought down into subterranean caves with burning torches as light. The initiate would stare at the burning torch, and then the torch would be removed (extinguished, or removed from the cave entirely) and the initiate was encouraged to SEE the flame dancing in front of him. Using his mind, he was to project the flame in front of his eyes.

A similar method is used by monks in deep meditation. In eastern Buddhism, monks sit for hours and hours facing a plain white wall. By staring at this wall for hours and hours straight, it is thought that the same effect as the ancient Greek warrior in the cave- can be replicated: to project images onto the screen/cavewall.

Finally, I can remember when I was young, my cousin (I do not know where he heard this or read this) but he said, if you stare at yourself in a mirror long enough, you begin to see different versions of your own face. These others faces are you in different lifetimes throughout history.

I am yawn But I shall check this thread tomorrow. Please do reply, I am interested in reading your thoughts!

yep
tried many times
as if our brains generate many persons, many versions and combinations with what they have at their disposal
face recognition is a very old part of our brains, so it is very well tuned to do exactly this

cant loose the alternative, that they are just used bodies of my own soul, which i can relate to or remember
moral reasoning takes about 250 miliseconds

Re: Anyone ever try mirror scrying?
Ok, this stuff is REAL and let me explain to you how I managed to do this. It's not the conventional way and I havent told anyone about this before but here ya go....

A few years ago I had a relative take some photos of me in an apartment building. I was sitting down in a chair facing the large balcony window which wasnt covered in drapes. I was near the opposite wall of the balcony window. (The other side of the room) and this was during a bright sunny day. BUT there was a large mirror hanging on the wall behind me and above me. I was sitting about 4 feet away from this wall where the mirror was hanging. (The mirror was behind my back)

So, my relative took a bunch of photos of me with my digital camera. And about a year, year and a half later I started looking through my image files on the computer. I started opening up these picture files and I noticed something in the mirror. Then I started zooming in, more and more. With time, through out these past few years I have been able to see future images of people I know and myself. And how I would look in future time. The colours are blended in, blues, black, brights, all colours basically. BUT I believe this occurred because the light shining through the large balcony window was hitting the mirror behind me. Basically, the correct position of the mirror, with natural light, combining in the most perfect way reflecting light in the visible light spectrum that the bare eye only staring at a mirror would not be able to see. It's many many and many images all over the place. BUT they are actual clear images. It's very hard to explain, this happened by complete accident while I was looking at these photos a year or so later.

And no, I'm not lying. This is the honest truth and I swear my life on it. Also, I dont know if this has anything to do with the time and date I was born on. But further research brought me to the Mayan birthday signs. And it says for me that I'm the sign of the Jaguar/North. People with this sign, not all but some are what the Mayan's considered to be 'Shamans' or light keepers and can have the abilities such as Clairvoyence. Believe it or not, I dreamed certain things when I was a little child, and in my adults year those dreams came to pass. And sometimes things I see in dreams occur months in the future, sometimes weeks. But a lot of people think that people who can see the future in dreams are only able to see bad things, disasters, and so on. No, sometimes you are just seeing a certain occurrence, or what ever is happening at that current time which your dream state is showing you. Like a meal you are going to eat but you see the characteristics of the plate and when you wake up you say to yourself, 'I don't have a plate like that, not even close'. But then a couple months down the road you go to a friends house for dinner, and they place food on some brand new plates that they bought and you're eating off of the exact same looking plate with DISTINCT colour pattern and design that you saw in your dream/vision.

I can go on and on, so many little things, and big things. I guess sometimes the brain picks up a certain frequency of a particular electromagnetic wave at a certain time which picks up a certain 'image' that the 'wave' is connected to.

Basically, you are seeing random things that might not even be important, but thats what your brain waves are able to pick up at that certain time in that deep state of sleep. Kind of like a radio picking up different stations on the same wave.

And usually these 'dreams' are showing things that happen a few weeks apart at different times. Thats why sometimes dreams don't make sense to people. Your are seeing different points in time, basically all at the same time in one dream.

Heres an example,

one dream I had, I saw my friend, (who I only see once in a blue moon) then I was driving down a road near a lake and this huge explosion happened in the sky, then the car stopped and I opened the door and got out. Dream was over.

But what actually happened was, a few months after the dream, I seen my friend who I almost never see. Then a few days later I was driving by this lake and these huge fireworks started going off in the sky. Then I came home and got out of the car.

Man, I know this stuff sounds crazy... but it's all true. At least I hope that the dream about the explosion and fireworks is what I was really seeing, because if it's not then some BIG shit is going to go down.

The point I'm trying to make is, you don't really understand what is happening in the dream but you see the images. You will only know for sure when it happens. Then you say to yourself, 'oh, so thats what it was!'

And once you get use to it after many years you can tell the difference between a real dream/vision apart from a random dream. The only problem is, trying to understand what you actually seen in the vision.

And I've also seen some other things related to war. But I can't say for sure. Thats the scary part. I will only know, when what ever I saw in that dream, actually happens. And I sure as hell hope it isn't war.

I used to take acid quite a lot when i was a teen and i stared at my reflection in the mirror many times. I do remember thinking 'eww' when i saw myself but i was a teenager and not exactly happy with how i looked.

what did fascinate me was how i could see the moving 'aztec' pattern embossed on my skin... exactly like what i saw embossed onto/apart of every single thing.

One day I was stone cold sober and i asked someone i had only just said 'hi' to if they had taken acid. They seemed surprised and asked me how did i know? I knew because i could see the acid moving intricate patterns on their cheeks.

I read Reunions: Visionary Encounters With Departed Loved Ones by Raymond Moody, which teaches you how to build a psychomanteum (sp?). It's all fascinating, and I bet one could see something with the right frame of mind, I just never did.

Re: Anyone ever try mirror scrying?
I'm going to expand on my experience a little more now that I read the rest of the thread.

I read the aforementioned book by Dr. Moody, which both gives an histocial background of scrying and use of psychomantia along with how to make your own. I want to say it was the ancient Greeks who used them regularly, but before you were allowed to visit the psychomanteum, you were pretty much sensory deprived for weeks beforehand. You were kept in a dark room in a cave, and then allowed to go into a fire-lighted cave to view the reflective pool. In that situation, I can see why it would be trippy, having been deprived of sensory experiences for a while. (I am just going by memory here, so I might be off a little. I read it 3 years ago.) It also uses some examples from the Bible of supposed or potential scrying. Those are the ones that stand out to me.

Dr. Moody also gives some anecdotal experiences of modern-day use of psychomantia. I believe it was him who supposedly had a visit with a dead relative via mirror-gazing. If it wasn't him, it was a patient of his whose story he relates.

To "build" one, you pick a dark room, or one that could be made reasonably dark. He suggests hanging dark curtains to cover walls and/or windows so you are in a small (again, think sensory deprived) room. Light a candle and place it behind you somewhere so that you get the flicker or light out of your direct and peripheral visions. Recline or sit comfortably, where you can enter a meditative state and become extremely relaxed. The mirror you should have purchased ONLY for scrying should be placed in front of you so that when you gaze into it, you cannot see the reflection of anything but darkness. As you stare at it, start to stare through it, as if it is a body of water and you are trying to look into its depths. It is after staring at this mirror that you are supposed to start to see things. All of this should be preceded by a prayer of protection from the light, or from God, or Christ, or whatever makes you feel comfortable and safe, so that no dark spirits can mess with you.

I tried it probably two dozen times before giving up. The room I had been using as my psychomanteum had to be dedicated to a different use, so I don't have anywhere to try it now anyway if I wanted to. I must emphasize the prayer of protection when doing anything like this. I know a lot of the religious will say it is evil, don't do it, etc., but I believe it can be real, it is just important that you protect yourself properly. I think I went into the process wanting to see something specific rather than being open to whatever the other side may have wanted to show me. You seeing a face with lips moving is much more than I ever saw. Do picture yourself surrounded by a golden light before doing it though.

Oh it you again, playing with fire. You have neither the patience nor understanding of a prayers.

Prays everyday and you'll be wiser and see, see's the other-side with peace and humility.

Then perhaps words will open up to you in the holy bible... which took me more than 20 years of patience and now I can sniffed out false words for words in the bible which some are not true, also missing words like the females counterparts.

Don't mess about and be a fool again in any given lifetime.

It may be lesser evil to Ouija board but it is not to be messed about as some mirror are evil entity.

what kind of mirror it should be? Common silvery type one from a mall, or dim, opaque or matte (like graphite), or semi lustrous as bronze mirrors are?hf

I'm gonna go ahead and chime in hear and say I would like to know more about the subject of mirror scrying, if anyone here has anything to say about it.

Don't do it... you can go mad. Most aren't built for it. Be thankful most have no f'kn idea how it works. And that most of those who accidentally figure it out go f'kn mad and can't tell you how to do it.

above poster is correct, Scrying with mirror is very dangerous, and has always been looked upon as being from dark arts, it's like a ouija board, only less focus, demon's is what you're seeing,or still expieriencing(excuse my english)

this is very dangerous, you could go mental, "they" could stay, since there is no way YOU know of of how to sent it back...so don't mess with it...

the only entities you're gonna get with ouija, scrying, mirrors, pendulums, charms, spells will be demons...

you don't have to take my word for it, but i've been there when i was 17 till 23, i've changed my ways...you should do the same

Re: Anyone ever try mirror scrying?
I used to stare into a plasma globe in the dark and I would begin to see faces and places inside the globe.

Once I saw a different room, reflected in the globe as if it were my own room however this room was from around the turn of the 19th century on the other side. I saw two people sitting in the room that didn't appear to notice me. However, after I stared at them for a few moments, they clearly became aware of my presence and when they turned to look at me, and our eyes met, the vision ended.
