There REALLY IS something strange in western sky around sunset...!!!

Really? Watch this video. Then watch it again. Watch it until you understand the concept of a filter flare.

An out of focus twinkling star. Whoop de doo.

So, at 01:03 the smaller "object" next to the sun begins to move along with the camera. An obvious lens flare.

This is not earth-shattering. Maybe I missed it, but what is there to understand here?

Yeah it's getting comical now. You know, when I was younger I used to believe anyone when they said they saw a UFO (was a big coast to coast am listener). Now I realize just how ignorant the average person is when it comes to astronomy. GLP has really opened my eyes. I still believe the universe is full of life, I'm just a lot more skeptical of the reported sightings now.

Bottom line .
people are noticing SOMETHING DIFFERENT and it's getting their attention ! ...seeing a brighter object or a flashing object in the western sky that is not something they have seen or remember seeing .


I wish my scope was still working properly ...

I keep thinking there is something wicked this way that is incoming WHICH is lighting up or illuminating Venus , Arcturus or Antares brighter than normal .

If there is a new object GLP will find it in time . TRUTH always comes to the surface in time .

Well I live in Mass. and we had A clear night tonight and I seen this flashing star with my own eyes. It's there me my girl and a friend seen it tonight. Shills are really bad on this post one of the worst cases I've seen here to date..

No one doubts you saw a flashing star. There's lots of them.

There is nothing special about a flashing star. It's just the atmosphere that makes them twinkle.

astro, you may believe anything that you want ... and I may as well - but there is no way, that anyone can tell what that object is - using MY pictures ...

I looked at every dot that appeared in the sky for over a half an hour ... some were clouds, and most were con-trail - which were easily distinguishable but what I saw - was neither ... neither

you did not see what I saw - that's as plain and simple as I can get - the picture I took, just to verify its location could not possibly be used to determine what it is - and that sort of judgment call on your part, is what is causing you to loose all your credibility on GLP

Ain't nuthin' there...spent 4 days on Gulf Coast of FL. Had clear skies, uninterrupted view of sunset setting into the Gulf of Mexico. Watched with binoculars from about 1/2 hour before sunset to about 45 minutes after sunset every evening. I have the damn no-see-um bites to prove it.

Really really really wanted to see something. There was nothing there (besides the spectacular sight of the sun disappearing into the gulf). None of the other spectators there saw anything either.

I now believe that what The Hopefuls thinks they see are either contrails or lens flares or substantial amounts of wishful thinking.

The phenomenon is local to each observer, not universal. Sorry.

Southwest Montana 7:45p.m.- Clear skies. It's there. I see it. Low on the horizon. First night in a couple of weeks it's been clear and no clouds. Don't know what it is, but I've seen other anomalies in the sky. Few years back it was an asteroid that the public didn't know about. This is probably the same, IDK.

I went out a little while ago. There is a twinkling red and green star? Looking through binoculars it is zig zagging. Is this what everyone is talking about?

Camped and boated many times on the gulf coast...those no-see-ums are ferocious

I just saw this same object earlier this evening right after sunset. Was watching it with Binos(10x42) There is no aircraft involved with this object. So you tell me how a contrail is at the same exact position every single night, same dimensions, same orientation and falls to the horizon at the same speed as the sun EVERY SINGLE NIGHT!

An orb floating around, to me a believer in ET UFOs, is a bit boring. Yay! Even if it's out there every night. So?

I wouldn't get excited about this, or even if there were 25 or so of them, although I can see how some people might.

If it was a massive triangle mother-ship, now -that- would be cool to see a picture/video of (not too close, mind you).
