Russian city woke frozen. Literally (images)
 
Dudinka not expect "wake up" literally "stuck" on the ice, but that's what happened when there was a leak in the city's water pipes.
Located in Siberia, the town of 22,000 inhabitants, "gets along well" with the low winter temperatures of the Russian reach for this time of year, -40. The problem is that this time a storm caused a leak in the water pipes that eventually flood the streets. The extreme cold froze immediately the water creating a layer of ice that "arrested" cars, buildings and pipes froze preventing the supply in many houses, water and electricity.
Despite the "freezing", the internet connections remained stable which allowed the sharing of information. The images in this gallery were recorded in Dudinka residents and placed in social networks. [link to www.tsf.pt]

Some of these EQs that are being posted are quite shallow in comparison to others.

I noticed that with the Chile quakes. Some are 120 km deep and others are 20-30 km deep.

Gov. Baker activates National Guard, other states sending aid

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Massachusetts is calling in the military to help with snow removal, as Gov. Charlie Baker activates 500 soldiers from the Massachusetts National Guard.

Public Information Officer Peter Judge said the soldiers are in the fields of engineering and transportation.

The governor activated the National Guard just after noon, but it will taken some time for the soldiers to report to their deployment locations. Roughly half of those activated will use heavy equipment to help remove and dispose of snow, while the other half will help shovel out fire hydrants and other tasks.
