Okay for years I have complained about earwigs. For years I have battled them without pesticides. For years I have managed to keep them from driving me insane. ... ... ... ... For the last few nights I have been up way too late, like 3am. Hours are just really messed up from the surgery. I go into the kitchen, turn on the lights and I always kill at least 5-10 each time as they come in through the back french doors or the door to the garage, kitchen window is sealed well enough they aren't coming in through there. Wednesday night, I killed 35 for the night. Grossed out but not freaked out. ... ... ... ... Then last night about 1am, the whole thing changed. Went into the kitchen and froze. Called Pandi in to see the HORROR!!! She squealed and also froze. There were at least 50 of the buggers crawling on the walls, mostly towards the ceiling, this isn't including the dozens more that were around the french doors behind the sheers. We got out our swatters and began killing the suckers. It was a nightmare. ... ... ... ... Earwigs are a cousin to roaches and scatter when the lights come on. I fears there are 1,000's upon 1,000's of the things in the house that we can't see. Shiver.... . . . . We are going to spray the yards, trees, gardens (no veggies this year), the house - everything. We don't want to put something too toxic down but enough is enough. I need suggestions of what we can use that will kill these evil insidious creatures from hell!!!! Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ... ... ... ... Parents sprayed house and yards like crazy when I was growing up, black widows, recluse spiders, scorpions and little tiny black ants that my brother was very allergic too. I swear her health issue were from all that spraying every 3 months in Phoenix. We all had school or work, she was always there. Simple27 (OP) User ID: 62114448 United States 06/20/2015 07:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Destructive southern pine beetle appears in Northeast states ROCKY POINT, N.Y. (AP) -- The southern pine beetle, which for generations has attacked forests throughout the southeastern United States, is methodically making its way into the Northeast, destroying thousands of trees in New York, New Jersey and elsewhere. The beetle, which resembles a chocolate sprinkle, is viewed as a threat to all pine species, including pitch pine, the predominant tree found in the 100,000-acre environmentally sensitive Long Island Pine Barrens region. It was first discovered in New York last October, about a decade after it appeared in New Jersey, officials said. "Whenever you have a new pest enter an area where it's never been, it has the potential for massive outbreaks," said John Wernet, a forester with New York's Department of Environmental Conservation. The insect also has been found recently in Connecticut, and U.S. Forest Service entomologist Kevin Dodds says traps in Massachusetts and Rhode Island are detecting its presence there. The reasons for its expansion northward have not been determined, but some say a rich supply of pine trees amid rising temperatures is one possibility. [link to hosted.ap.org] ~*Ride the Wave*~ |
