Re: Just wanted to chat about some deep things with some intelligent, well read individuals who enjoy thinking out of the box!
Once upon a time in my life when I was investigating the meaning of this life & why we are here etc. I thought I had figured it all out & I was happy for a time. Then one fine morning I woke up & my first thought was....I know nothing....back to square one....or alternatively I am ok with not knowing....it no longer matters that I don't have all the answers, & I am at peace with it.

But in the back of my mind, I kind of think that "it's all a grand cosmic joke.....a game, created by the grandest architects of all....The Great I AM, The Alpha & Omega. Perhaps we are really meant to have fun & play in this game, & not take it so seriously.

But I know nothing!

Great topic OP.....looking forward to hearing from other posters.

Re: Just wanted to chat about some deep things with some intelligent, well read individuals who enjoy thinking out of the box!
I'll bite I love a good discussion...

Intended out of life is to be able to live it the way I want. My life my rules as long as it doesn't harm others.

Why we are here... I have many thoughts on this... I don't know the truth... Is this a simulation... Are we engineered by ET's or do we need to grow spiritually? Maybe a combo?

We live in a multiverse with many other realms (dimensions) and ET's exist.
 Quoting: Philomath

Awesome, so you believe in free will, but only if you do not cause others harm?

The simulation idea has always been a neat one. Some philosophy classes I have taken have spent a lot of time and gone into the subject with great detail.

ET engineering or "Intelligent Design" is also a great topic, I for one believe in intelligent design but not like christians and many other theologies do.

Also, the idea that we are here to grow spiritually I think is for some, but not all. I think we do not all have the same reason, purpose, etc for being here and now.

But yes, I do believe in quantum physics, some of the theory of everything etc. There are many dimensions and universes and some universes have many different dimensions.
 Quoting: Patrick Bateman

That's what keeps me awake at night.Imagining other dimensions, spatial and alternate. And I think of the 'Heat death of the universe' theory.
Everything just dies.Whole galaxies, the universe.Everything and everyone on every planet, everything they created gone.
Makes me sad and probably the most unselfish feeling I've ever had.
 Quoting: Prizefighter Inferno

I understand exactly what you are saying and have spent much time pondering, reading, researching, etc. I do not know, no one does, But I believe that the energy transfer between all of them will never end, especially since i do not believe time exists in certain ones(dimensions and universes) but that all are linked somehow. Not all to us, but still linked none the less.

And I will come back to this, I love this, but I'll get to a couple more posters quick.

So, to start out, just incase anyone wants to play, 1. what do you intend to get out of life, or 2. why do you think we, or you personally, are here?

Or, 3. what are your ideas of life and this and other dimensions, universes, etc?
 Quoting: Patrick Bateman

1. Get and give is the cycle.
2. "Why" is a metaphysical question that I cannot answer. The truest, most divine things need not be said.
3. Is there is distinction between life and non-life? Life is a higher-complexity than what men consider non-life, but in the end, it is all the same, only a different form and subsequent function. What is the definition of "dimension"? That will go a long way towards answering any questions. Same with "universe".
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35084949

1) ok
2) I disagree, maybe not said, but to some, not all, shown or guided.
3)of course there is a distinction between life and non life, imo at least here in this plane in this universe. Now speaking as a cellular biologist, all life on this planet is made up of carbon. But that just may be semantics. jmo

And yes, being able to properly define dimensions and universes will ultimately help us to understand them. It can be difficult at times to get your thoughts out there when the discourse to express them has yet to be invented.
 Quoting: Patrick Bateman

Re #2, there is a difference between knowing the divine and having the ability to accurately capture its essence in words which are both binding and static.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35084949

Exactly, and I do not believe our human brains can come close to doing either one. We can get glimpses perhaps, but not even close to understanding one or the other really at all. I just do not think that our minds can from a biological and physiological pov. Which sucks, but we can still search. IMO

You know? I think this is the true rabbit hole. It reminds me of something my son said when he started college; trying to pick a direction. We gave him some school catalogues; told him to mark the classes that looked most fascinating to him.

He marked..almost all of them. He said..my problem is..I want to take them ALL.

Right now..I'm working towards my PhD in Industrial Psych. I'm very excited about that. Just today I thought--I want to learn computer coding so I can write programs. Right now? I want to pursue academics..

and that doesn't even scratch the surface.

I've decided..life is like the best amusement park ever devised. The question is..how many rides can you cram into only a few decades.

Lol, I have been through your cycle, but not on as grand of a scale it seems.

If anyone has anytime, the essay by Camus, "The Myth of Sisyphus", is about life and death and the irony of it all, some of the cycles we have touched on, suicide, etc, It is only like a 100 pages and can be found for free online in audio or to read, but it is the most mind provoking read I have ever come across.

I will not give up the ending, and what he comes to after evaluating what we are discussing and all of the evidence, but it is very interesting.

And thanks, I hope more posters keep coming and exchanging ideas and thoughts with one another as well! :)

Lol, I agree with lots of your statement! It sounds like you have quite a bit figured out, and imo, every single thing on earth, this dimension, etc is relative on a singular basis to one another. So in other words, everything is relative, but to you. But just my thoughts.

And good luck to you and your son! That is awesome! I plan to stay in academia off and on my entire life. I just finished my first degree, Pre-Med/ Cellular biology, and I need 1 more class in chem for a minor and one more in philo for a minor which i think I will get both of those soon.

I like how you said it does not scratch the surface. In one of Einstein's think tanks he asked everyone how much they thought humans as a race no or understand about the universe, and the number they cam up with was 2%.

While he said the bible is full of children's stories, etc, and most of us from being here at least know how it is full of plagiarism's, but he did comment that he believed not in god like most do, but that a higher power was out there in that 98% some where.

Btw, I too in the last year started dabbling in programming, etc. It is a lo of stuff, esp in the beginning, to get by before it gets really fun, but I hope you and I both eventually get to it!

I am sorry if I have missed someone, I have tried to get to each in order, bump if I have missed.

Also, please discuss and comment on each other's ideas as well as mine! It seems we have a good group in here, hopefully get some more, but I will not tolerate assholes, or people being condescending, etc. in any way. There is no judging going on, just discussing and trying to learn from one another!

There is a search for Camu's essay I have talked about and refereed too, if any have time they should check it out. Maybe an hour or less to read usually. I think there is an audio of it on youtube that is like an hour and half maybe?

To add a little more to this. What I mean about everything with the phisiology and make up of our mind, is just that we do not physically possess the parts, or make up or w/e to perfectly grasp all of these topics with a correct and final answer.

And not only that, but as we as a species progress and this field becomes more developed, the discourse will exist that does not currently, and will allow us to explain and understand things and each other much more clearly.

My mind becomes super active when I go to bed at night. That's my most creative thinking time. I traverse the universe seeking answers & understandings, but go round & round in circles, eventually landing at a place that states, our human minds can not cope with the vastness of it all. When I push myself to go beyond my limits, I feel like I touch the borders of insanity. Perhaps this is due to some of our dna being switched off??? Also, perhaps due to the nature of this "playground" we are not meant to know the deeper answers. Still, this does not stop me from pondering & contemplating.....because it's just fun to do it.

I'm here on a mission from god to expose evil.

I'm finding the road to hell is paved with the so called "good intentions".

So many marginal types make veiled attempts at what they perceive as "good deeds" yet fail to contemplate the long term consequences of their behavior.

This is the paradox, the thinly veiled "good deed" is actually the long term strategy of demonic entities.

So, to start out, just incase anyone wants to play, what do you intend to get out of life, or why do you think we, or you personally, are here?

Or, what are your ideas of life and this and other dimensions, universes, etc?
 Quoting: Patrick Bateman

Life is what you make of it. Nothing is "predetermined". You succeed or fail based on your own decisions. You're natural gifts and talents can help you along your way, but it's ultimately up to you to make the right decisions.

Why are we here? To exist. Nothing more really. Try to make a difference...no matter how small. I think of it as a ripple...how has my existence helped others? Family...friends...contribute to society. That's about it.

I'll be forty next month. I've seen the entire world...seriously, just about the entire planet. The more I live, the longer I live, the more convinced I am that we're on our own. Blind luck plays such a huge role in what we're capable of being/doing. Just imagine being that unlucky soul with the misfortune of being born in some back alley in some god forsaken African nation...

What is the purpose of life....to live. Reproduce if you so desire. Live the best you can. Provide for those that you are responsible for, for whatever reason, and then die. The cycle will continue to repeat.

Depressing...maybe. I say it's less depressing to accept the truth, and get on with life.

Also, at some point in your life, listen to these two songs:

I am very happy for you and your experiences! It sounds like you have taken advantage of your situation and had an awesome life so far!!

Some interesting views, thanks for sharing!

Question though, so you believe we are tied into JUST this universe and plane? By your second to last statement? What are your thoughts about all of the rest? If you have any to share, that is. :)

"Matrix type universes are also fun and there will be many more of them out in our universe shortly, due to technology and what not."

they didn't put our brains in the universe, they put the universe in our brains. neat trick, huh?

Lol, depends on how you look at it. Plus, at least imo, everything is relative to each individual. So maybe that could be the case for you, or more, but not me. If that makes sense.

I wrote a paper on that, my theory on absolute relativity. I could spend a lot of time discussing it. Anyone have any thoughts? I should be back shortly.

So, to start out, just incase anyone wants to play, what do you intend to get out of life, or why do you think we, or you personally, are here?

Or, what are your ideas of life and this and other dimensions, universes, etc?

I have already fulfilled my chosen responsibilities for this life...I'm only 39 but I have always been an overachiever, because I was never told when my time would be up, so logically I took initiative and accomplished what I set out to do from an early age.

From here on out it's cake...the investments of life just keep rolling in and I enjoy them and do my best to pay it forward to those that deserve it.

The secret to a happy life is to work hard, play hard, love hard, and give it all away without wanting or expecting anything in return...and enjoying the whole process while you marvel in the brilliance of God's divine plan.
