I keep hearing about this direct relationship or personal relationship with God through Jesus, but I can't find anything about it in Scripture. What does it mean really?

One can find much to support violence in the Bible as well as the Qur'an, and isolated passages picked to support a desired interpretation are a feeble attempt, at best, to proclaim a correct interpretation.
I've found that the longer I belong to a religion, with my whole intelligence and heart engaged authentically, the more my conscience is tuned to all I do wrong, and my consciousness expanded to see the face of Jesus in all, and that all roads lead to the one Creator, one God, who is also a Father.
How one travels his road, is up to the individual soul, there is no substitute for prayer.

What Jesus said was that IF you keep his commandments and do as he said, he and the father will make their abode within you.

So, how do you know who is telling the truth?

As Jesus said, you will know them by their WORKS.

You can very easily go look at what Jesus commanded his disciples to do, then look at the works of anyone who comes in his name or who claims to have had personal contact.

Simple really.

Most have created Jesus in their own image though.

And that is the separating of the wheat and chaff that is now going on.


So, I will make this very clear, if you do not do what Jesus said to do, and you proclaim with your mouth that he is Lord, then you are a Liar.

Yes, I understand what you're saying, and I abhor the kind of oppression that violates human dignity, women or men, but I think it comes from the evil that infiltrates everything in the world, including religious people, and is not systematic within a religion itself.
Or, to put it another way, men or women intent on oppressing or gaining for themselves alone, will use their professed religion to lend credence to their bad deeds.
