I have been more and more perplexed with the actions of that portion of Christianity and what has become of the Republican Party. I literally could not comprehend their thought process.

I then read "Conservatives without Conscience" by Robert Dean that came out a couple weeks ago. Now I understand what the heck is going on and how so many people that call themselves conservatives have strayed far from true conservatism.

The book is a must read for everyone of any political persuasion. It's not anti-conservative, but it identifies the cancer of Authoritarianism that is fighting to gain control of this nation and is already controling the Republican Party.

Dean shies away from the more controversial language, but it's clear to me now that the Neo-con agenda is a Fascist one and that the mindset that has gripped the part of the populace that is providing their base of support is the same one that allowed Hitler to gain power in Germany.

The frame work for those prone to the seduction of authoritarianism has taken the form of a Faux Christian Fundementalism that is more about supporting self-righteousness than the teachings of Christ.

A core group of completely amoral, self centered, dominance driven people with out conscience call themselves Born Again and appear to support beliefs and goals of those most religious, when in reality they are using these trappings to manipulate common people who find themselves in need of the "leadership of absolutes" in this increasingly troubled world.

If you watched a pastor from So Cal, they would look like beach bums, cool dudes.

If you watched a pastor from England, you would think he is stuffy.

If you watched one from Pakistan (which I have) you would think he seemed emotional too.
