Matthew 24:36-44 It's giving examples; Noahs time, Lot (in Luke), etc., of how unexpectedly it will come upon them. The good were taken away from the flood/judgement in the Ark; Lot, et al were removed from Sodom and judgement rained down upon it. Its about being taken away from the judgement/tribulation, and if the whole world is about to enter the tribulation then...the good will be taken out of the world.

didn't Jesus say that He was coming back "immediately after the tribulation"? therefore, rapture would be immediately after the tribulation wouldn't it?

The Parable of the Wheat and the Tares. Read below and you will see in plain language they will be harvested together when the reapers "Angels" gather them together. This is consistent with Matthew 24, immediately AFTER the tribulation. Please dont twist the words, just read what it says and get yourselves ready to be here for the tribulation.
