Yes, in the US Army to be a Corporal you have to be a BADASS. In the Army's E-4 pay grade, you can be a "specialist", or you can be a Corporal.

Anyone can be an E-4 SPC (you just had to put in at least two years back then and then it was pretty much automatic).

To be a Corporal, you have to be promoted to specialist, then prove yourself to be a leader of men and women.

Then and ONLY then will you get Corporal stripes. It's not an automatic promotion.

As I said earlier, I left the reserves as a Sgt. First Class, so of course I am more proud of that -- but was proud to be a Corporal too.

Yes, newb, things have changed, and not for the better -- the lowering of standards just to get bodies in uniform is why I only did one tour in the reserves.

The Army we took to Desert Storm was far superior to what came after 9-11 -- we took out the 4th largest military in the worlds after less than 100 hours of ground combat. And I am very proud to have been a part of that fine Army.

LOL, not a "chick", but I served with plenty of badass ones in the 82nd.

At least they had the balls to jump out of a C-130 or 141 -- more balls than a lot of grunts have -- nasty ass legs.

The funniest thing about those mountain fags...when we heard about it we were all joking around right. Then one day a new private came to the unit and told us it's all real. We all got disgusted by realizing the shit was real.

What unit did you serve in , and during which war ?

you don't have be a "grunt" to be a badass Soldier -- technically all Soldiers have 11B as a secondary MOS anyway, we all go thru basic combat training, yearly rifle qualification, etc.

We had FTX's where we took on grunts -- and often kicked their asses. I used to teach classes in small unit tactics -- don't ever underestimate a "support" Soldier.

God I fucking hated FTX's lol. Carrying a real rack of all your shit for a week in the sticks...shit was reeeeeeeeetarded lol.
