You can already tell he got out as e4 and below lol. Probably a scumbag pothead who got out early.

LOL, I left active duty as an E-5 and the Army Reserves as an E-7.

OP just did one and out, probably as just a PFC or a SPEC. And no campaign ribbons to boot.

He probably thought getting his "sham shield" was a big achievement -- like when he got his pretty lil blue cord. LOL
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 64480694

Did you just say reserves .....well that verifies he is a ninjafied combat veteran....stir
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 6324438

My time in combat was all served while on Active Duty -- I joined the reserves after 9-11, hoping to join in the fight, but my unit never deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan ...

Doesn't matter though, I did my time in war (Panama and Desert Storm) ...

I sat on e4 for 6 years.
 Quoting: Agent13

So you admit you never even made it out of the lower enlisted ranks -- pathetic.

If you were Army, being E-4 for 6 yrs is nothing to be proud of, though I can forgive it if most of that time was spent as a CPL.

I finished my first enlistment as a Sergeant (E-5) -- I would have felt like a failure if I hadn't at least gotten that far.

I only spent a short time as a SPEC -- before I was selected to be a Corporal (junior NCO, and those who have been in the US Army know you have to be a BADASS to be one -- otherwise you can just be a SPEC).
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 64480694

Really did you just say a CPL is a badass? Go back to the VFW you're drunk, is that all you got for credentials? Oh geez we got a live one....

Yes, in the US Army to be a Corporal you have to be a BADASS. In the Army's E-4 pay grade, you can be a "specialist", or you can be a Corporal.

Anyone can be an E-4 SPC (you just had to put in at least two years back then and then it was pretty much automatic).

To be a Corporal, you have to be promoted to specialist, then prove yourself to be a leader of men and women.

Then and ONLY then will you get Corporal stripes. It's not an automatic promotion.

As I said earlier, I left the reserves as a Sgt. First Class, so of course I am more proud of that -- but was proud to be a Corporal too.

Corporals have required slots since 9/11. You must have bene a corporal when the ability was available for all e4. That's like 80s and 90s. Yea old dusty fart.

Watch, now I bet you'll say you got out with a percentage...if you do...god help us all lol.

Yes, newb, things have changed, and not for the better -- the lowering of standards just to get bodies in uniform is why I only did one tour in the reserves.

The Army we took to Desert Storm was far superior to what came after 9-11 -- we took out the 4th largest military in the worlds after less than 100 hours of ground combat. And I am very proud to have been a part of that fine Army.

Moral of the story: fags are funny to poke and laugh at but when they bring their shit to your doorstep you reach for the shotgun.

you don't have be a "grunt" to be a badass Soldier -- technically all Soldiers have 11B as a secondary MOS anyway, we all go thru basic combat training, yearly rifle qualification, etc.

We had FTX's where we took on grunts -- and often kicked their asses. I used to teach classes in small unit tactics -- don't ever underestimate a "support" Soldier.
