The trigger. Most guns you have to pull

You don't carry a gun with a gun lock.

Getting raped/robbed/attacked......Hold on one second I need to find the key to unlock my gun.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1439282

Not necessarily.

I am a CHL and have been trained to disengage the safety with my thumb while gripping my gun - it's almost instantaneous. In the instances my safety is already off, the way I've been trained, it doesn't matter, my thumb just slides down across the switch anyway. I've trained with both hands and with several of our handguns. Now not all guns have the same safety buy all my self defense ones do...

I keep the safety on when I purse carry - I don't like the obvious bulge of the body carry.

If I body carry I go for the bersa with no safety because of its small size but it's just a 380. Not a great self defense choice imho. I prefer 9 mm or 40...

I really hope you don't own guns.....

Why? Because I agree that a safety can be kept on the gun and released quick enough to be used in an altercation?

I have an inside the pants holster I carry on my right hip.

I recently got a thigh holster that looks like a corset. it's super cool! I wanted something to wear with dresses so I wouldn't have to put a gun in my purse. so far I've just worn it around the house and it's comfortable and keeps the gun in place. I figured I'd try it out first so I don't go out and about and drop the gun somewhere by mistake like a tard, but so far, so good.

then you don't understand the premise using a weapon for self defense...

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 66463584

I've owned three hundred weapons over
the past forty years, and fired about
four hundred different makes.

I currently own one but only because
it was something my dad bought me about
thirty years ago and he left it for me
after he died.

Because guns represent power, they also
bind to ego. And a lot of the gun industry
is macho ego. I've shot matches with
Jeff Cooper and Michael Harries, Knight,
those guys, they've refined handgunning
into an art but art isn't really important
for self defense. Their art is all designed
around extreme edge cases which never occur
to the average person.

The woman in Idaho is dead because she
carried a chambered round, in probably one
of the safest areas in the United States.

Ridiculous.
That's about ego, not safety.

I suspect that even most police departments
don't carry a chambered round but I'd
have to go figure it out and I don't
care that much.

Even in the old wild west days, the standard
carry was five loaded rounds in a six
round cylinder, with hammer resting on
an empty chamber.

Ya know , I have been thinking about this and have to wonder is it even possible? A 2 year olds hand is not big enough to grip a glock so it would need two hands to pick it up and if it used to hands to pick it up theres no way a 2yo finger is long enough to reach the trigger and if this kid was a freak with 10" fingers still a 2yo finger extended fully probly couldnt exert the 6-7 lbs needed to get past the trigger break.

so how could this have happened the way they say it did?

Very sad but at least it was not himself this time. I have a 2 year old and

have to constantly take my purse away from him. Kids that age love

playing with bags that contains lots of different items.

Yes, it is an awful thing that happened, the poor kid will end up omitting suicide when they understand what they did.

more concealed carry brilliance.

gun in purse is unattended weapon in public, anyone can get hold of it.

that kid now grows up not only motherless, but knowing he killed her. it will be decades before the child understands his mother is another 2nd ammendment victim, if he makes it that far.

What this story has proven to me:

1. Gun owners have no idea how easily their gun can be fired
2. No matter how safe you think it is to carry a gun on you, I could easily remove it from you

Sorry to here about this.

This why I carry a Snap Cap in the Chamber when I carry I Know I have to cycle the slide to go Live Fire.

This prevents someone taking your firearm and Shooting you with it.

Had this woman done the same She Would Still be Alive.
