I've thought about that. But starting over somewhere can be hard. For me I guess it's going to depend on how things pan out in the next year or two. It is difficult to find work here, but higher education is all over and pretty good locations..

You are so close to completing your degree. Your credits didn't disappear..

Thread: Boeing employees' communications reveal they thought the 737 max was "designed by clowns who in turn are supervised by monkeys"

The release of a batch of internal messages has raised more questions about the safety of Boeing's 737 Max.

In one of the communications an employee said the plane was "designed by clowns".

The plane maker described the communications as "completely unacceptable".

The 737 Max was grounded in March 2019 after two fatal crashes in Indonesia and Ethiopia, which killed almost 350 people in total.

Boeing said it had released the hundreds of redacted messages as part of its commitment to transparency.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and US Congress were given unredacted versions of the communications last month.

"These communications do not reflect the company we are and need to be, and they are completely unacceptable," Boeing said.

One unnamed employee wrote in an exchange of instant messages in April 2017: "This airplane is designed by clowns who in turn are supervised by monkeys."

The documents appear to show that Boeing rejected training pilots on simulators, which would have led to higher costs for the firm.

On Tuesday this week, Boeing reversed its position by recommending 737 Max simulator training for all pilots.

It really is. And no matter how good a movie is, it usually can't compare to a book. Try as they might.

It is beautiful thing to see someone's or many people, turn a book into a movie.

We are innately storytellers and as humans, find our stories, very precious to us. We want to share them with each other. And then talk it about it more.

You really would like that movie though.

And probably the book.

Infinite Jest
Many subsections of the novel depict how characters lose control over their situations. We see a character wait in vain to buy drugs. We see addicts get high to escape the reality that law enforcement is on to them. At the same time, the novel includes stories of how characters lose choice in a positive way, whether through willingness to pet a mangy dog and thus gain entrance to a treatment facility or practice tennis for hours each day to transcend plateaus and fight for a chance to compete for a career. In fact, members of the A.F.R. willingly lose the use of their legs by lying down on train tracks to prove their devotion to the cause. Hal's father kills himself, and Hal discovers the body. He is required to receive counseling and attempts to game the system by reading carefully through all the available books on grief and indicators of the various steps. He becomes a star tennis player and surprises even himself with his progress, but prizes the idea of inaction as a way to succeed. We learn that Hal has not gone a day without getting high in over a year, and we witness his ritual several times. Ultimately, he presents himself differently than he is received by others. Because of this, he has been coached to hold himself still. This final point in the story is placed at the beginning of the novel.

“Everybody is identical in their secret unspoken belief that way deep down they are different from everyone else. Almost nothing important that ever happens to you happens because you engineer it. Destiny has no beeper; destiny always leans trench coated out of an alley with some sort of 'psst' that you usually can't even hear because you're in such a rush to or from something important you've tried to engineer. The thing about people who are truly and malignantly crazy: their real genius is for making the people around them think they themselves are crazy. In military science this is called Psy-Ops, for your info. You can be shaped, or you can be broken. There is not much in between. Try to learn. Be coachable. Try to learn from everybody, especially those who fail. This is hard. How promising you are as a Student of the Game is a function of what you can pay attention to without running away.” David Foster Wallace, Infinite Jest

The type of like "I'm shit and the world'd be better off without poor me" type that says that but also imagines what everybody'll say at their funeral. I've met types like that on wards. Poor-me-I-hate-me-punish-me-come-to-my-funeral. Then they show you a 20 X 25 glossy of their dead cat. It's all self-pity bullshit. It's bullshit. I didn't have any special grudges. I didn't fail an exam or get dumped by anybody. All these types. Hurt themselves. I didn't want to especially hurt myself. Or like punish. I don't hate myself. I just wanted out. I didn't want to play anymore is all. I wanted to just stop being conscious. I'm a whole different type. I wanted to stop feeling this way. If I could have just put myself in a really long coma I would have done that. Or given myself shock I would have done that. Instead.” Infinite Jest

The writer David Foster Wallace committed suicide on September 12th 2008. His wife, Karen Green, came home to find that he had hung himself on the patio of their house, in Claremont, California.

"He couldn't write anymore."

No, I see myself in the present as a very different person than I was in the past. Even with this recent slip up I have a community, I'm working, I have a goal of starting an eating disorder nonprofit treatment center, I see hope and a future.

Even my most recent stay in eating disorder treatment, wasnt the same as they used to be. It wasnt the program that changed, it was me. I used to find my identity in sickness and I no longer do. I'm not afraid to admit I'm happy anymore.

I mean my eating disorder has been a lifelong struggle, so it's not fair to expect that recovery was ever going to be a simple process for me. It's so deeply embedded and intertwined with my personality.

I made one last night after a bit of sudden drama. A house down the way was seemingly engulfed in flames and exploding. My partner caught a glimpse of the smoke randomly looking out one of our windows and we both ran down there in the rain.

He called the Fire department and got the lady and her dog, out her house that was closest to the flames. They got there fast, and only the shed was totally destroyed. Burned down to the ground. The flames were huge. Not sure what exploded. Propane tank probably.

The Hot toddy was surprisingly good for being so simple. I added just a bit of cayenne but would probably go a little lighter next time.

I also only added 1 full shot of Makers.
 Quoting: Seer777

Wow, that's a bit of drama alright. Good lookin out for the neighborhood!
cayenne seems like a really hot toddy...
 Quoting: callit

It was the shed of a house the block over. How he even caught a glimpse, was random luck or something else. He was the first to call the Fire Department.

I ran down there to make sure and ran back over here because we have a police officer that lives in the house behind us and I notified him in case he could get people there faster. He was in his bathrobe and me in my jammies, getting poured on as I we walked out together into the road so I could point it out to him.

We looked quite the pair. lol

I figured afterward it was a good time to try a hot toddy. It was much better than I thought it would be.
 Quoting: Seer777

Haha, good for him! It's random luck, which is always something else, it seems.
or something like that.
Reminds of my Dad saying, "I'd rather be lucky than good".
Growing up, that seemed so silly. What makes lucky better than good? Now I think, You must first be good now, then luck happens more frequently now.

Isn't that what all those people be saying?

Seems like quite the scene you had that night, and a good spirit afterwards, to observe things with a bit different light. GLP is kinda like that?

Not to my knowledge. The bay is really shallow. You can walk halfway across at high tide and never get past your thighs. But gets really deep on the other side. At low tide it is the beach everyone walks and plays on.

Bodies always wash up eventually. Few days tops.

One of our multi-decade vendors at Market lost his teenage son when him and a friend were swept off a land bridge in the coast.

Oregon coast is not for swimming. More..observing from a distance with a genuine respect for its power.

People die every year underestimating that power and unpredictability.

Girl, seven, dies and her four-year-old brother is missing after a ferocious wave swept them out of their father's arms and into the ocean as the 35ft surf battered Oregon coast

A seven-year-old girl has died after she and her brother were swept out of their father's arms and into the ocean on a day when monster surf reached 35 feet.

Jeremy Stiles, 47, was on the shore holding the little girl and his four-year-old son in the Falcon Cove, Oregon area at approximately 12.38pm on Saturday when they got caught up in rough waters combined with high tide, also known as king tide.
