For instance my dad is literally the reincarnation of Hitler. I am not exaggerating! He is the most evil, abusive person in all ways. So his presence affects me greatly. How do I go to a higher state of mind and trample on him so to speak?

It's best to move out of the house as soon as you can. It will probably improve the relationship.

Everybody's sick of each other lol

I live with a man who can be Satan himself at times...and he drains me. That's what the negative types do. They feed off of your energy and strength. It's friggin tough...I found with these types it's not easy to find that balance...even though I try. Mostly I try to ignore the diggs and stuff which he says to get to me. Does not work all the time but I found ignoring and walking away...is the best I can do.

Come to the realization that the only thing you truly have control over is yourself. If you feel that others have control over you, it's only because you allow them to.

That said, it's part of the human existence to be impacted at times by the negativity of others - especially by family members and anyone you happen to live with.

In moments where that is happening I find that going for a walk can be pretty helpful. Journaling/writing has also proven helpful for me.

All in all though, keep the above in mind while also working on mindfulness. Live in the present as opposed to dwelling on the past or getting overly worried about the future. Dwelling on the past brings about depression. Being overly caught up in the future brings about worry and anxiety.

Focus on the present because operating in a meaningful and positive manner within it is how you can best bring about a positive future for yourself, which in turn wil also lead to what will become more positive memories of your past.

Also realize that truly living in the present is a continual thing from moment to moment. Basically, anything that happened an hour ago or even a minute ago is in the past. Process it within your mind however needed within the present to work on getting past it if and however needed (granted that it isn't harmful to you or others).

Another thing is to realize that the thoughts and words you use to address yourself have a bigger impact on you then you realize. By telling yourself negative things negative things are far more likely to come about. Allow positive thoughts about yourself and the potential outcomes regarding certain situations to run through your mind and it makes it more likely that things just might play out that way.

Practice thinking in such a manner even if and when you don't really believe it. It takes continued practice and effort, but if you work at it repeatedly it can bring about positive effects within you and your life.

It's difficult I know, and you'll certainly be left dealing with struggling situations at times, but addressing them in the ways mentioned above as opposed to playing into the negativity will be beneficial is properly applied.
