I can see why many older women hack their hair off but I'm not ready to look like a dude yet.

short hair does not make women look like men.

you're saying you already look like a man except for your long hair?

Re: Buns/ponytails hurt my head and yet I can't have my hair down without being uncomfortable
I'm a critter guy and I wear my long hair down all the time looking like those " jesus " science pictures . when the weather gets hot I just dump water on my antenna to cool down some . although during the " seasonal periods of heat " I have to use more cool water since I'm a virgin again with the natural " vesica piscis "/ holy trinity functioning too .......... what ? excuse me . you got to be kidding me , no . the critters inform me when I am around any female on her period , I will have those hot flashes . that good to know and I know why they were sent out of the camp in that story of wilderness travels . I wondered why I was a babe magnet , way more than usual before the holy trinity occurred . no wonder I'm like a Solomon and Sheba combined for weak women and as a Solomon and David for strong women with the two sets of dna and rna merged with the critters . no wonder Hollywood , Nashville etc want me to throw my lot in with them . I would , but their fake and I'm not . same thing I told Jennifer A of new York in the dream . as least stevie N didn't grope me when we spend time together chuckle jk , miss A hugged me and told me she loved as she walked up behind me in the mirror with me washing that dam dye out she poured on my head back to original hair color . that was before she got married though . I thought I would clear that up for her husband .

Try putting it in a low ponytail instead of midway from your neck to the crown of your head.

I cut mine off. I have a stack in the back and the sides come down to a point in the front. I have bangs and it is cut to frame my face. I am not going back to long hair again.

I am really out of the sexual game, so I don't have any desire to appear appealing to men. It is really liberating. I get to be myself now without having to think about what some man is going to get aroused about. I am getting old and I like it. I wouldn't go back to 18 unless I could take everything that I have learned back with me.

Re: Buns/ponytails hurt my head and yet I can't have my hair down without being uncomfortable
Have you tried "SpinPins"? They are amazing!

I have really long hair...on my head for the pervs out there! :D And the thing that always drove me nuts about my hair is I can't keep it in a ponytail. Didn't matter what kind of ponytail holder I was using, it wouldn't take long for it to slip down the length of my hair. When I was a teenager I wore my hair down practically all of the time but I don't really do that anymore because I want it up and out of the way. I usually braid my hair and then I use 2 spin pins in order to put it in a bun. They don't hurt my hair and they actually keep my hair up instead of it falling down every 5 minutes. I have no doubts if I tried to use regular bobby pins to pin my hair up into a bun, they'd slide out immediately.

Hope this helps! :)

There's a link to Spin Pins, OP.

I should also mention the braid is an ordinary braid. There's no way in hell I could do a fancy braid by myself. And I think it'd be impossible to ask anybody to braid it for me. I remember when I was a teenager and I even had super long hair back then, one of my mom's friends french braided my hair and even she had to stop at a certain point because her arms were getting tired.

I don't really like myself with short hair so I can't really imagine cutting it off into a pixie or anything like that. I like being able to braid my hair, put it in a bun and get it out of the way like that. Seems like there's fewer options the shorter hair gets.

Re: Buns/ponytails hurt my head and yet I can't have my hair down without being uncomfortable
I just twist my hair loosely until it coils into a bun and then stick a scrunchie around it. Looks presentable and takes the pressure off my scalp. Especially on days where my hair just hanging natural hurts.

If I'm uberubersensitive, I'll do two loose little house type braids. Looks ridiculous, especially at my age, but it feels good.

And sometimes it irritates enough that I go in the bathroom and take 3 or 4 inches off. Seems my scalp has a length limit. So needs that hack. It's still below my shoulders after, so not short, but it makes a difference to get some weight off.

I cut my Ass long hair over 2 years ago....pixie style so I could get every last inch of fake color out and its just above my shoulders and a lovely color of silver and I just love it.

My 26 year old cant get that im older and like it and do not need anyones opinions about my body.

Im 52 and still nice looking but without the desires and trappings of the past for youth...I like what I am becoming.

I'm sorry your 26 year old is giving you such a difficult time. You'd think if the argument was framed this way your son/daughter would get it: "You'd look good with your hair right here *point to a body part on your son/daughter, whether that means cutting hair or growing it out* Reply given would be "But I like my hair the way it is!" And you could reply, "Exactly. And that's why I like my hair the way it is."

I like doing things my way. If I want to cut my hair, I'll do it. If I want to keep my hair the way it is, I'll do it for myself. I really don't care if the average person thinks it looks awful or if the fashion industry dictates that long hair isn't for adults.

I admit I never was a great beauty to begin with so there was definitely nobody jealous of my looks. And people probably thought my long hair was old fashioned more than anything else. Anyway, it's just a shame that people can be so catty whether you had long hair, shoulder length, pixie, etc. Maybe I just don't understand the point of view? Like if I'd been a beauty and here comes another beauty, I'd be wanting to make her feel smaller so I feel better about myself. I hope I wouldn't be that way because it just seems like the women that act that way are huge cunts.

Try a Mohawk cut and really give something to talk about. It is a very practical way to have your hair and comfortable to boot. You can have a hat collection to sport your style. A short bill cap is best for ladies.

Have you tried curlers? Keeping say 12-15 hair roll curlers can spread the load across your whole head, alleviating pain in one area.

A combo of say pink and blue plastic rollers can also look fashionable.

Just cut your hair above your shoulders into a long bob or lob. It is very versatile.

i dated a really really hot punk rock chick in the early 90's with a mohawk. one of the most beautiful chicks around...

looked great with a fucked up haircut like that, and later 5 years later on i ran into her with a more conservative full head of hair and super hot too.

she would have looked good with any haircut.

and what a tiger too boot.

if you can do it, do it.

if you can't don't.
