So? Every item lost in transit is insured ,owner compensated and eventually if found auctioned . Many big Ebay stores are selling nothing else but "recovered ,lost cargo"

Whoa. That's just nuts to me. UPS doing everything they can to screw over someone... Man... I'd be suing UPS for everything they got for putting me through hell.

Okay? It got lost. I'm sure UPS covered it at the time and he got another one. Subsequently they found a box a few months later and sold it. More than likely that'd how it went.

The man CLEARLY said UPS did not cover it and he was out the money; he had to purchase the motor off Ebay, the second time he bought the same motor.

People will say ANYTHING to get people to side with them. When secretly they weren't prepared enough for the situation at hand. I sympathize with him but more than likely he cried and whined without doing much of anything to relieve the situation. Contact the BBB OR local gov. Or even do a chargeback through your CC. There's is a literal metric fuck ton a person can do to avoid paying on eBay. Especially if their case is legitimate.

UPS does everything in their power to avoid paying claims. If you file a claim for damage they immediately send you a letter stating that "they don't cover pre-existing damage" then you have to call them and fight with them to get them to pay. They suck ass.

He CLEAR SAYS they wouldn't pay the insurance claim, even though it was for LESS THAN HALF THE VALUE o0f the item, AND they wouldn't even refund the S$1000 SHIPPING CHARGE!!

UPS fucked up BADLY, and they should pay up.

Re: UPS marks this guy's shipment as "lost". Months later he finds his item on eBay after it was auctioned by UPS
Several years ago, I overnight shipped a Christmas gift on December 23rd to arrive on the 24th.

The shipping was $25 or $30 at the time. The gift didn't arrive until December 27th.

UPS took my money when they already knew they couldn't deliver on time due to a snowstorm that had already closed down their key hub before they took my payment.

It took over an hour on the phone for UPS to finally reimburse me.

Had the snowstorm closed down their hub after I'd paid, there would have been no beef. But they were collecting money from probably lots of customers across the country while already knowing they couldn't deliver, so to speak.
Yes, I did cure my Stage 4 cancer in two weeks when I was 48. I also reversed my chronic kidney disease (glomerulonephritis) when I was 25. In neither case were any medical treatments involved.

On a somewhat related note, know that if you ship
using a UPS STORE, you will be shit outta luck if
the item gets damaged or lost.
I learned this the hard way: UPS Stores are
individually owned FRANCHISES.
Although they are "affiliated" with UPS, UPS
has zero responsibility to you the customer.

You can buy insurance, but they don't tell you
that the actual insurance you buy:
is a legal agreement between the franchise and UPS -
meaning if you make a claim, it has to be with
the franchise. BUT the franchise can then file a claim
themselves with UPS, get a payment and keep it.
UPS told me over several phone calls that they couldn't
even give me any information about the claim,
because I was not a party to this franchise-UPS
agreement. (for the insurance)

The franchise refused to provide anything, info,
apology for their packer breaking the item, and
certainly no refund.
I'm sure they got their $400 refund and fucking
kept it.

I used to buy tons of stuff on ebay - lots of
electronic instruments, gear etc.
The items that the seller took to a UPS store
to have packed were 100% of the time,
packed for shit.
The owners were too stingy to use enough bubble wrap etc.
And whoever they hired to pack stuff, must have had
an IQ in the negative digits.

I had a brand new laptop and $1000 hard drive diverted from FedEx to one of the NSA centers where they strip your shit, copy your drives and bug them. When they finally got here they were a mess; stripped and missing screws, cases bent where they tried to force them open incorrectly - seriously it would've been hilarious of it hadn't been so expensive. Looked like they'd been thrown in the gorilla cage at the zoo.

FedEx wouldn't pay that claim either.

I use UPS all of the time. Insurance is included in the shipping price.

I have had a problem one time. A large distressed shelf 'never left the farm' it seems. They could not track it, find it, nothing. It just evaporated or something.

I filed a claim and got everything back except the shipping that I paid. So I had to pay them to lose the item. lol.

USPS isn't better, either. I just sent an item to Massachusetts and 5 days later, the recipient had tracked it and it was in CA. Yay post office!

What is the matter? People just don't pay attention anymore about anything.

Don't ever pay a bill over the phone, on the automatic thing, or give your debit card verbally to a real person. God, they can't get any of that right and it can really screw a person up.

I used to work for Fed Ex...

We had a florescent bulb company ship their bulbs in nothing more than retail packaging. Their entire business model was shipping bulbs, and filing claims for the broken bulbs. So apparently, Fed Ex pays?

Fed Ex solved the problem by refusing to insure the packages for any more than their retail price.
