Molotov cocktail attack hits Turkish Consulate in Greece

A group of masked individuals staged a Molotov cocktail attack on the Turkish Consulate-General in the Greek city of Thessaloniki early on Saturday.

The incident took place at around 4:00 a.m. According to reports, the assault targeted the Greek police officers who were standing guard outside the Consulate-General building.

Nearly 20 Molotov cocktails were thrown, before the assailants fled toward side streets while being chased by the police. Officials stated that no damage occurred other than slight blows on a vehicle.

My bet is they were far leftists since attacking police with 20 firebombs means bussines. Like severly injured or dead police. If no one get caught chances are they indeed were leftist extremists, since if they were far right everything would be known about them in a few hours time span, just like it happens all over Europe.

Police should go away and let Greek people deal with the Turks themselves...

Comments by former Turkish Prime Minister Mesut Yilmaz at the weekend in newspaper Birgun have led to outrage in Greece and a denial from Yilmaz.In the interview with Yilmaz, the former PM allegedly admitted that the Turkish state had given funds and support to secret agents who started a number of forest fires in Greece in the 1990s - a covert act in response to suspicions Greek agents had started a number of fires in Turkish tourist areas.

Referring to the “secret budget” of the Turkish Government, Yilmaz stated that initiatives like a coup d’état in Azerbaijan and the burning of the Greek forests were financed by the secret budget of the Turkish state.
