How come those surviving the Orlando shooting don't suffer from PTSD?

Going to a club to have a good time and ending up in a war like scenario fearing for life, seeing your friends drop dead, blood and dead bodies who were having fun dancing just moments ago, being injured, barely making it out...

The brain's coping mechanism- They could still be in shock or denial. I'm sure these people will be changed, and most likely have PTSD.

PTSD is a mental illness. Weak minded people with poor coping mechanisms are susceptible to the mental illness under a stress related circumstance. This is the exact reasons why Vets with PTSD collecting disability payments should not have gun licenses/permits.

The Pulse massacre was horrific, no doubt, but PTSD is usually from sustained stress, coming from time on battlefields, or abduction situations.

That was the belief during world war 1 and 2. Now it's mainstream medical knowledge that PTSD can be caused by much less horrific events even just childbirth can cause it.

Here is a list of possible causes. Terrorist attacks is one of them

- Military confrontations
- Natural disasters
- Serious accidents
- Terrorist attacks
- Violent deaths
- Rape
- Personal assaults
Any situation which triggers fear, shock, horror, and/or helplessness.

Just curious if gay men qualify as men in this assessment since gays seem to be exposed to more discrimination and fear due to their homosexuality and therefore may be more vulnerable?

Would be interesting to follow up with the orlando survivors over time to see if anyone developed PTSD, but somehow it seems that they will just vanish from the scene...

If I told you PTSD was real, you would believe it. It takes the fight out of a strong person. If it was real and I had that shit, I wouldn't give them the fucking satisfaction. Drive through that shit and don't take the easy way out.
