did not know this:

Puerto Rico sends brigade of rescue workers to Texas after passage of Hurricane Harvey

Puerto Rico was also providing assistance to the BVI and USVI after Irma. I heard Puerto Ricans were aiding Aenagada more than the British government. They deserve to be helped now that they need it. It pisses me off that my president would rather tweet that it's great then actually making sure it is!!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72906256

i agree they need help. i am willing to go down in a few months after their basic needs are met, me and my friends don't want to add to the burden. as long as we can get food, water, and shelter we will work our asses off all day, and get some surfing in later on if that is possible.

i have a friend from there and he is trying to find a group for us to hook up with, if anyone has any info i would appreciate it. anything.

Stay safe over there! I can't imagine the hell you are living though and it probably feels like there is no end in sight.

Be safe and I hope citizens of PR get the help they need.

Don't you mean US citizens should get help they need?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74841078

They are NOT all US citizens.

Oh...by the way. With all this going on, President Trump sent responders and equipment to Mexico to help in search and rescue efforts after the earthquake. Media didn't report that...did they?

They're considered US citizens, but they elect their own legislative assembly, a governor, and a representative to the U.S. House of Representatives. But unlike U.S. states, Puerto Ricans on the island cannot vote in presidential elections, and their representative in the House — known as a resident commissioner — has no vote.

Oh yeah, how wonderful that they receive benefits from the federal government of the USA, but they DO NOT pay federal personal income taxes to the IRS. They pay NOTHING....ZERO... to the IRS.

Also, Puerto Rico is $74 billion in debt plus $49 billion in debt for pensions for their people. Our government (we taxpayers) are now expected to bail them out.

Re: Today is 8Day of hurricane Marias Puerto Rico path I (managed to survive to inform)
I have family in PR. They are volunteering and assisting other people. A couple provide first aid. They specifically stated that the people have come together like never before. And while I don't discount that some crime might have occurred, I think OPs narrative of people w guns stealing water are greatly overstated. Especially when in many communities they are actually giving 2 free cases of water per family and all of the free spring water they can carry. Also, water service has been restored to parts of the metro area.

Oh come on Girl. I would never doubt someone like OP especially after seeing those pictures of dead animals. Very bad and sad.

I believe her and some of them have their mobile phones back for sure.

By the way I have to use distilled water for my sleep machine unless I boil it.

Walmart had no large gallon jugs of any water accept little bottles. I stopped by another big grocery store Same here except they had a few gallons of purified water but no distilled. I did find one where it has a little specit on it you push and distilled water comes out, so I got the last one like that. They are apparently sending most big jugs down there. We saw a man at Walmart with a cart full of water jugs another day.

 Quoting: nutmeg

Again, another fool. Puerto Ricans contributed to every war since they became a territory of the USA in 1898. They contribute to Social Security, Medicare, etc.

Thanks to the Jones Act, the prices paid by Puerto Rican consumers are roughly 20% higher than on the mainland.
20% of $35 billion (the annual consumer spending) is $7 billion. This is the amount of excess prices on goods paid every year, by Puerto Rican consumers.

85% (the percentage of goods that come from the US) of $7 billion is $5.95 billion.

So Puerto Ricans pay roughly $5.95 billion in annual excess profits to US corporations, thanks to the Jones Act. That amount exceeds the $4.6 billion in federal benefits that the US “gives” to Puerto Rico.

But wait, there’s more…due to the reduction in Medicare Advantage funds as of 2016, the US will reduce its “giving” to Puerto Rico by $500 million. So as of 2016, Puerto Ricans will receive only $4.1 billion back from the US government, but pay $5.95 billion in excess profits to US corporations.

So the net result is that there is more influx of funds coming to the USA mainland than to PR. Get your facts straight before you spew nonsense.

Hi ,
ROn Here all ,

I am just getting back from the Keys and wanted to float some suggestions on the most efficient way to utilize the internet in PR.

GET PEOPLE WATER! THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO STAY ALIVE, HELP IS ON THE WAY

[link to www.oism.org]

SHOW THIS VIDEO TO THE CHILDREN IT WILL CALM THEM TO HAVE SOMETHING TO DO .TRY TO MAKE A CLEAN SHADED PLACE AND KEEP WATER THERE AND A BIBLE .

[link to www.youtube.com (secure)]

H.ere is the overview .

Firstpost a public sheet of paper that others can put their name and status [like OK] and a phone number or e mail to send it to . The rest is real simple .. ask trinity to upgrade your account and take a picture and post it here then let people post which part of the list they will call .

[link to www.undp.org]

not sure how you are connected but if you Know anyone with government give them this .

[link to www.cse.wustl.edu (secure)]

The best way to stay active is to help with the relief , you can organise a response party and try to sort out what is left and above distilled water as seen on TV!!!!
you know box of sand cup in middle and clear plastic over the whole thing like a trash bag .. the water evaporates and then you place a rock on the bag the water runs down the incline and the rock is over the cup . , the drops fill the cup , you have a tube to siphon it off!! you know that one !

[link to www.youtube.com (secure)]

[link to www.cse.wustl.edu (secure)]

I'm sure you will find plenty of people to help

Crowdsourcing with the un app and there are by now a Crowdsourcing graphics group working this , you can join them if you can get online. , maybe somebody else could look for it . here is the UN one
[link to www.unitar.org]

OK FOUND IT HOLD ON crisis mappers

Wow. You, nutmeg, have your priorities screwed up. If someone or some country can be helping right now THEY SHOULD BE HELPING. Money will be obsolete before long. We can't take it with us. What is important is how we treat each other and the world we live in. Each one of us should be doing what we can to make this transition easier for all who are not parasites!
