Hailstorm in Germany on June 11 2019 03:46 AM (UTC).

Witnesses in Munich reported chunks of ice the size of tennis balls hailing on the Bavarian city, breaking car windows and damaging houses. Other parts of Germany were also hit by storms. Several people, including a seven-year-old child, were injured in a hailstorm that hit southern Germany on Monday, police in Bavaria said.

Houses were flooded due to heavy rain and damaged by hail, which meteorologists described as being 5 centimeter (nearly 2 inches) in size. Some witnesses, however, reported hail the size of tennis balls (over 6.5 centimeters) pounding cars on a federal highway in Bavaria, smashing car windows and side mirrors.

"Chunks of ice were hitting us like gunshots," a Munich driver said. "We exited the highway, in the towns you could see roof tiles on the street," she added, according to the German DPA agency. "The street were green with broken off branches and leaves."...

Extreme Weather in India on June 11 2019 03:33 AM (UTC).


In Bihar, eight people have been killed and 11 injured in thunderstorm and lightning in different parts of the state. Maximum three casualties have been reported from Gopalganj followed by two in Sheohar district. Three remaining reported from Sitamarhi, East and West Champaran.

Several trees were uprooted and electric supply has been disrupted. Train services were also hit due to a thunderstorm in northern parts of the state. A large-scale of litchi and mango crop have been damaged. ...

Flash Flood in Indonesia on June 12 2019 03:35 AM (UTC).

A massive flash flood hit Konawe in Southeast Sulawesi on Saturday. According to the National Disaster Management Agency, more than 5,000 people had to be evacuated from their homes, some by helicopters.

A state of emergency has been declared from June 2 to June 16. The flash flood also caused heavy damage to rice fields and fish farms in the area...

No disaster here in southern Nevada, but some strange stuff for sure.

Mt Charleston still has snow on it in mid June. Normally, it is gone in April. This area has been my stateside home base since the early 70's. Snow on the mountain at this late date is crazy. It's melting fast though--after a record cool May, it is freaking hot--can't stop June.

Recent aerial air tests detected a higher than average level of radioactivity near the Muhlenberg nuclear plant in the canton of Bern, as shown in red in the image below. The source of the radioactivity was identified as a vapor containing the radioactive isotope N-16. N-16 has a half life of around 7 seconds, so it loses its radioactivity quickly...

This map shows how the level is higher in the mountains. In addition to background radiation a small amount of artificial radiation typically exists. In Switzerland this is only a few percent of the total, most of it from 1986 Chernobyl reactor accident and from nuclear weapons tests in the 1960s. ...

Max temps earlier today were 15-20 degrees above normal for this time of year. High temps were near daily records for max temps ever measured in Fresno and Bakersfield on June 12th. Temp records at Fresno date back to 1888. Temp records at Bakersfield date back to 1893.
