False story actually there were redundant bills as well as already existing statutes on the state and Federal level, both bills were political grandstanding, No One voted to continue FGM as well as the fact that it was also banned in Somalia and especially, women now in America don't want it, none of them do, and they will fight it at home. There are multiple levels of FGM. More and more adult females are electing to have female circumcision done (clitoral hood reduction surgery) to "tidy things up."

The question of course is if this procedure should be done to female infants as it is done to male infants.

In countries such as Mali and Niger, most women lost their clitoris as a little child. It is supposed to make women less lustful so they will not lust for other men (his is all in African countries). Sometimes they convince the girl by telling her that if she doesn't get female circumcision, her clitoris will grow huge and show beneath her clothes.

i know for personal experience. sure it looks good and its clean etc and the women love it. but im pretty sure its not the way its supposed to be... why else would nature give us that skin to begin with?

They don't sew it completely shut (the woman still has to urinate). But often it is botched and infected and the woman gets all sorts of complications, upto trouble with urination and defecation. Sometimes of course the woman (or girl) dies.

Your brain work? My husband insisted my second son was done, I dug in my heals and flatly refused my 3-5th sons from being circumcisized, and they can always choose that when they're older. Because there is no reason to do that unless its medically needed.

However, the difference between the loose skin around the penis head, AND CUTTING OFF THE WHOLE PENIS/CLITORIS, ALL THE EXTERNAL GENITAL ORGANS AND SEWING UP THE VAGINA IS ENORMOUS.

Maine was one of those places that some bad things happened to little children. A girl is not like a male, it was done for cleanliness and infection prevention in males, yes a lot of infections happen to uncircumcised males not females. It can destroy a female for life.

This is abusing a female child who can not make a decision that is life long. It plan out physical abuse and others are voting to allow it?

You male can always keep the boys from Circumcision but know they can have big problem later in life, I know of two personally and they were in agony from having to have it as a near adult. Not happy campers they were not. So, do not think it was just for nothing parents did this.
