Re: Help to Identify Fossils?
They are definitely fossils but unknown if sea, animal or plant. Mostly everything in that area is limestone. I have been to the Glenrose limestone formations in the Texas Hill country. It's amazing. You pick up what you think is a rock and it's a fossil. Mostly fossilized sea shells and clam type shells. You should find a university that will look at those and tell you what they are.

I have 11 rocks that I believe contain fossils.

Is there anyone on here who can verify if these are indeed fossils?

**They Are Of "Imprints/Casts" Which Were Done Long Ago !! ... What Ones There Call "Fossils" ... But More ... Much More !!

These rocks were obtained years ago in Texas while oil drilling. They were found at approx 50-60- feet below the ground.

[link to s1263.photobucket.com]

**Thank You For Sharing !! ... Looked At The Images ... Of Which One Showed A Being ... An Ancient Bird Being ... Which Was Part Of A Colony On Terra/Earth Long Ago !!

**The "Fossil Striations" ... The "Fossil Marks" Are Not Only Of "Trees" ... Of What Were The Beginnings Of Ancient Trees There ... But Of "Claw Marks" Of The Members Of This Species ... Who Was Living There At The "Time" !!

**While They Had "Bird Forms" They Were Not Of That World Of Terra/Earth ... But Attempting To Start A Colony There ... An "Outpost" If You Will ... & Found Conditions At That Time "Favorable" To Their Kind !!

**The Colony Was Destroyed In A Subsequent Upheaval Of That Area ... When Something From Space ... Seeing Something Flaming ... Colored Gasses ... A Comet Breakup/Collision ?? ... A Large Asteroid ... The Crater Long Since Weathered/Buried ... Filled In ... The Topography Of The Land/Water Changed ... From What It Once Was ... The Climate Changed From Tropical !! ... The Bodies & Trees ... Evidences Buried Under Tons Of Mud/Debris ... Casting Remain of Their Presence Once There ... Underneath ... Buried ... More Will Be Found !!

A Feeling Of Being Smothered ... Choking ... Gasping For Air ... Suffocating .... Mud ... Liquid Mud ... Debris ... Drowning ... Slight Pain .... Then No More ... Falling ... Being Washed/Swept Away ... Leaving Body ... All Below Of Once Was ... Is No More ... A Feeling Of Remorse/Sadness !!

**This Is Some Of What "Comes To Me" While Doing "Picture Psychometry" !!

Take them to your local University Geology Dept and ask them if they could take a minute to look at them. I'm sure they'd be happy to geek out over them for you.

Could be some sort of tree?

**Yes ... Of "Ancient Trees" ... Very Early Trees ... With "Striations" ... With "Scratch Marks" Of This Species Of Being ("Bird Look Being") That Lived There ... When The Land/Area Was Tropical ... Rather Similar To The "Rain Forests" Of South America ... Of Brazil ... Where It Is Hot/Humid/Sticky !!

Idk. Could be nothing.

**There Are "Many Things" There ... That Were "Picked Up" Via ... "Photo Psychometry" .... Of Disaster That Struck .... Of An Intended Colony Of Those Not From Terra/Earth ... Of The Death Of These Beings ... Of The Great Sadness & Loss Of Their Kind !!

Have a pin. Maybe someone knows?

**Yes, Have The Ability To Do "Photo Psychomety" Of "Tapping In" Via This Method !! ... Holding The Objects Would Be Even More Intense Of Emotions ... Of Feelings ... Of Which These Beings Were Highly Evolved !!

all over the surface of the planet, and the limestone is

and, of course, everybody knows if you go up to
10,000 ft. on any mountain in the World, and you will

Way to go! These are great and only adds to the mystery.

The way they curve, I think rugose or even static coral, but no, there is no apparent evidence of nodes.

Earlier poster may have nailed it with Rudista, but maybe not.

With Rudista you should be able to interpret a slight plane of perpendicular growth.

Not so, with yours.

From you photo, calamite fits the bill nicely...oh yeah, all except the nodes.

What is this???

No, not bone.
No, not pet. wood.

Sponge?

You have one photo this is telling...one organism seemingly interpenetrating another organism at on oblique angle, with possible dissolution features.

Is this a calamity event??

There was a devastating time in the Permian.

I'm sticking with Permian age animal and not plant.

Many of your rock show casts. One is ultimate...the one that shows the cast and the preserved fossil.

Someone smart should be able to put a reliable thumbtack on this!

Hope you get it solved. I'm flummoxed but had fun. :-)

You may be spot on, Mud Logger. I've no doubt you have seen a lot of interesting samples come your way.

I do question the geometry involved.

Look at the pictures again.

The aspect ratio of the clear amount of tapering in the sample does not easily make me think twig, stick, or branch.
A tree is more subtle. Some photos seem to be making a point, as in, perhaps, a point of attachment, and quick growth?? Yet, others are not so tapered.

What do you think?
