They use the SAME metabolic pathway as sugars a "reason" why many recovering alcoholics become sugar junkies 3. Alcohol is a "toxin" and the a few things happen A. Weight loss/fat burning HALTS until the alcohol is processed and cleared, it OVER occupies the liver. B. I can dramatically raise or lower blood sugars. High blood sugars trigger insulin a FAT STORAGE hormone. So..yes you "can" drink. It is very negatively impactful in a number of areas so even if you are OMAD...you're NOT. I'd suggest you consider to move from daily drinking to a limited time and day allowing your ketosis to do its' work. Of course you're probably very aware that juices, sodas and other sugary mixes are just a flat out NO. this doesn't have to be "forever" and neither does strict keto but while "on program" do it FULLY 9 days/week with an "off" day IF and only IF that actually works for you. I'm sure some will blither on about how deleterious alcohol is and whatnot but you didn't post here for lectures. Good luck and report back how you do. |
