While I agree that a lot of the nonsense is gone without ACs, I also think some really good stuff is gone too. The place seems less "dynamic" now, and reminds me of some other forums I tried but left because of how "meh" they are.

It's strange... seems to me like mods should be able to handle getting rid of threads the are just plain abusive, racist, or promoting hate. I mean, isn't that what mods are for? Seems perhaps they spend more time on personal 'missions' or something than actually moderating. I'm not trying to throw shade on all of them. I'm just saying that perhaps their mission could be redefined, and the ACs brought back. It's neat to have the mods interact sometimes, but perhaps doing so too much takes them away from their moderating duties.

Place definitely isn't the same without ACs. I hope something can be figured out before what made GLP is gone for good.

I do not doubt that the change has brought some people together. Any significant changes should be, as it should be, for the owner/majority of members.

Personally, I do not fit in with the new way. But, I am not the center of the universe either. So, there's that.

People migrate to where they are comfortable. I suspect it will be a few months or so before the true results come to fruition.

It's like qanon in reverse: they are now for the first being bombarded by MSM trolls and the big question is: will they be able to survive the onslaught? Here, there used to be an ecosystem that allowed (if not welcomed) a variety if voices and sources.

I do not agree that the changes are about "silencing" voices. It seems to be more about restructuring the purpose and reducing abuse of a privilege.

To post on someone's website for free and crap all over it, is not a right. Some things can even land people in legal trouble that can become serious in nature.

Could be that it's a matter of being willing to spend vast amounts of time dealing with those who would abuse such formats. Or, as has happened, to eliminate that headache and change the format to what some may perceive as higher quality.

The price? Less volume.

One can argue if the volume was in its partiality, or its totality, for the good or bad. The reasonable will say it was both.

It comes down to if a person fits in the environment provided. You take what is provided, or you do not. Some will, some won't.

It's impossible to please everybody all of the time.

Those of us who do not prefer this way will fade away, or post less and the board will continue on without us. When it is not our headache, we are free to come or go. But, I cannot fault people for making things the way that they want them because it's not me who has to deal with the fallout.

It just seems like the site has been neutered. And honestly, I miss some of the whacky threads - that's what made this place entertaining. And let's face it, if it's not for entertainment, then what is it for? Everyone just supporting each other's love of Trump and hatred of liberals? Yeah, we get that. But how long can it live on that alone?

Shit, I miss the Nibiru threads, the masons, UFOs, reptilians, uncle Intel - was a lot of it crazy and inaccurate? Yes. Did it provide a welcome escape for all the political bullshit that you can get many, many other places? YES.

I keep saying - get a good group of mods who actually moderate effectively, and ACs aren't a problem. It's like having a bunch of security guards at your store, but they aren't effective at stopping shoplifting, so instead of hiring more effective guards, you only allow half of the customers you used to. And the analogy plays out, because not everyone who visits a store buys something.

Ok, I've hit this point enough. I'm done now. Thanks to you and (surprisingly enough that it almost gave me a heart attack) Chip. It's refreshing to post an opinion and not be banned for it. I DO like that - a LOT!
