Bump stocks are toys, double tap triggers are actually practical if you are in a volume-of-fire/maneuver type gunfight.

We are already at the next step in the evolution though. Imagine a pair of biomechanical gloves that will sense the first trigger pull and the weapon firing. If you command the gloves to, they move your trigger finger back and forth to give any semiautomatic weapon a full auto rate of fire.

These gloves already exist and you will see them as a market product. There is nothing that can be done to keep them from the marketplace. What are they going to do ban gloves?

A bump stock ban is all that is needed to infringe on the rights of every gun owner who has a semiautomatic weapon of any kind. A more liberal President and ATF can easily re-interpret such a ban to mean that all semiautomatics are in fact illegal since they can be bump fired without the need for an additional "bump stock." And at what point is a bump stock a bump stock anyway? Is it a bump stock if I 3D print it myself? Probably. Ok, how about a piece of wood and with a pole stuck through it cobbled together using parts at a hardware store?

Obviously it will be impractical to monitor all sales of wood and pipes at hardware stores to catch people making home brew bump stocks, so all it will take is an ATF with the leeway to claim that semiautomatics are covered by fully automatic bans since they can be readily bump fired, even with just your finger...
