More Than Half A Million People: America's Homelessness Crisis Is Rapidly Exploding On Both Coasts

I have. I met quite a few actually. These people were white and couldn't afford rent. I also met a man who told me that he would find a place to sleep outside, in the freezing cold and he said "at that point, it seemed that getting drunk or high made it easier to tolerate". I met him after hus homelessness ended. Now he works at helping people get into shelters. There's alot going on in this country and most can't understand it.

Yes. Quit empire building and bring the troops home. We aren't the world's policemen. spend the money on our people and our infrastructure...or lower taxes.

It's only going to get worse with inflation. If We can close the borders then wages can rise but if idiots keep voting for democrats then it will only get worse.

Homeless is a phrase invented by Bolsheviks in response to Ronald Reagan.

The word never appeared in popular culture until then.

It was invented by Marxists.

Anyone commonly defined as homeless under these post-Reagan definitions is:

1. Mentally ill and would have been in an asylum under previous societal conditions and procedures.

2. A vagrant who lives as such on purpose.

3. A drug addict or hopeless drunkard, unemployable and so forth.

4. A habitual petty criminal with a record that prohibited employment or housing.

Fucking period.

Fuck the homeless. It is an illusion.

Poor people are greedy, and that's why they end up homeless. The humble become wealthy over time...

The problem is how the poor handle their money...it's not how much you make, it's what you make of it that counts!

Follow a poor person into the grocery store, if they even go to one...watch what they buy

lottery tickets

cigarettes

beer

Doritos

Cupcakes

hamburger (fatty as possible)

BBQ sauce

Poor person's to do list:

make minimum payment on credit card

extend payday loan

apply for new credit card

make car payment

call in sick for work

ask ex-boyfriend for money/suck dick

go to free clinic for STD treatments

The numbers of how many homeless vets there are is staggering.

The numbers of how many households living paycheck-to-paycheck are frightening.

Not everyone chooses this lifestyle, believe me.

What pisses me off to no end are the professional panhandlers out there working a corner or a highway exit. Shit, some of 'em are regulars and make more friggin' money than me.

And at the end of the day, when they sit in their box wondering why they have no teeth,as they fall asleep with a sugary soda in one hand and a cigarette in the other, dreaming about winning the lottery...or a quick and painless death.

I'm talking about lazy bums with drug addiction who chose to be homeless. There are many STEM related jobs in the US that pay atleast $80k-$150k based on the experience. I know a guy who got his online computer science degree for $10k at University of Texas,Austin and currently he is making $120K in texas where there is no income tax.

I believe this also occurred under Bill Clinton. I'll have to research for a link.

The homeless folks I have had contact with lately have serious Meth-Sores and shit.

Or some other sort of Medication Induced medical issue.

The increase of homeless are found on the East and mostly West coasts where housing costs have climbed dramatically since 2010 when the increase began.

There will always be those with addictions and illness that keeps them homeless but I wonder if the others chose to stay behind and lose everything vs moving to where the jobs are.

Personally I have moved out of state for work when I did not want to go and it was much better than the alternative.

You know them too. Oregon is lousy with them.

you always have a choice ... and to me, being homeless is not a choice a sane person would make

Eh, that's pretty rare.

I've known a lot of homeless and 100% were drug addicts and/or alcoholics. If you've ever done any work for or been around any homeless, you'd know that too.

Um, no, your taxes didn't double. Poor attempt at bullshitting.

Worst case scenario, some of your free government handouts got cut and you now have to actually work a little. Hence your anger.

You are ridiculously naive and must live in a sheltered suburban bubble. Clearly you've never known or interacted with even one homeless person.
