Harvard: Marijuana Doesn't Cause SchizophreniaGood news for people who’ve worried that smoking too much marijuana (cannabis) — especially as a teenager — might lead to some dramatic problems in the future, even schizophrenia.

New research from Harvard Medical School, in a comparison between families with a history of schizophrenia and those without, finds little support for marijuana use as a cause of schizophrenia.

“The results of the current study suggest that having an increased familial morbid risk for schizophrenia may be the underlying basis for schizophrenia in cannabis users and not cannabis use by itself,” note the researchers.

The new study is the first family study that, according to the researchers, “examines both non-psychotic cannabis users and non-cannabis user controls as two additional independent samples, enabling the examination of whether the risk for schizophrenia is increased in family members of cannabis users who develop schizophrenia compared with cannabis users who do not and also whether that morbid risk is similar or different from that in family members of schizophrenia patients who never used cannabis.”"

AGAIn, takes me but a second to TOTALLY refute your "study," and let's ALSO be a little bit more clear about what YOUR study ACTUALLY says:

"The ready availability of high potency cannabis in south London might have resulted in a greater
proportion of first onset psychosis cases being attributed to cannabis use than in previous studies."

"The aspects of exposure to cannabis (eg, age at first
use, frequency of use, duration of use) that confer the
greatest effect on risk of psychosis are unclear."

"The few studies that have tried to estimate the effect of cannabis use on the number of new cases of psychosis in specific populations have been limited by the scarcity of accurate information on patterns of cannabis use."

So again, unlike your title, there is no DEFINITIVE CONCLUSION that marijuana causes any sort of psychosis (unlike YOUR opioids) and the paper uses a lot of "might" and conjecture. That's correct, the study being based again on PUBLICATIONS, on other people's work, not on ACTUAL case studies of their own. FURTHERMORE< they feel the need t say that financial sponsors had no influence on the SETUP or methods used (but say nothing about results) and they will not name the financial sponsor.

AND finally, we provide a NEWER study, showing NO link between marijuana use and mental issues - though as a good, and conscientious study should, shows a correlation between MENTAL heath and cannabis use - IE people that already have mental issues using cannabis. Makes sense, I see it myself - my neighbor, brilliant artist, tortured mentally. The poison messes with his head, so he turns to booze, then to weed, then eventually coke. Sadly, these aren't hings that can help him. Point being, UK scientists seem bent towards a cause and effect that is backwards to what ALL the other science is finding.. interesting, isn't it?

AND again, OP, you get all defensive, saying YOUR drugs don't get you "high." Patently untrue... if they didn't, they wouldn't work. As we've been through, their PURPOSE is to alter your mental state, mask and change your perception of your physical state, and allow you to ignore your pain, without helping it any, and in most cases actually making it worse long-term. You can't deny that they do what they are SUPPOSED to... otherwise, you'd get no relief, so you'd need to get OFF of those meds, and try something that might actually help you have a LIFE, hmm, like maybe Cannabis? Interesting notion.

If my meds kill me, they kill me. I need pain relief and as the doctors and specialists always tell me "the benefits outweigh the risks".

Nobody's talking about side effects, simpleton. IT's the PRIMARY effects - the reason that you TAKE the drugs - that give you the high, and alter your mental state so you aren't stable or sane. You value the sanity you don't have and the intellect you don't use... what a perfect irony!

As we've discussed, if you did not get a buzz, it would not be working, and you'd still be in pain. I'm sure you've convinced yourself that you buzz is your norm. I'd also bet that your pain isn't NEARLY as bad as you believe, but the coming down from the high should roughly TRIPLE how bad it feels for a while, and before that has a chance to subside... time to take poison again!

You probably aren't on ignore, it just won't respond to things it can't refute, or defend... which is nearly everything it types.

I've come to realize that, while I was initially disappointed, I actually DO serve a purpose by (easily) confounding and proving wrong everything it says... it pretty much shuts up, except for the odd petulant comment when it feels particularly put upon.

I really wish it would get some assistance and get better... at this point, I have no concerns about it's opinion on marijuana, we know that's ridiculous and farcical. My REAL concern is it's denial of it's dependency and instability... you simply CAN'T use opiates for that long without suffering serious mental (and physical) degradation, and denying it's high simply means that being buzzed is now it's "normalized" condition.

Way to go NHS, crating yet MORE zombies. EVERY person from the UK that I know that's come here (Mom employed a Scot years ago she took from a London telemetry firm, who's wife had severe pain issues) has said the same - NHS is a tax drain that doesn't care about patients and would rather kill them with drugs than treat them.

Super sad.

As for your silly assertion? We have REAMS of proof in the form of REAL PEOPLE that prove THOUSANDS of times over that you don't HAVE to take your meds. And in a way, that's true, you ARE a victim of the NHS' lack of care and concern... drug you and keep you quiet.

You'll be able to see that if you ever get off the narcotics long enough for your head to clear and the withdrawal to stop being confused with ACTUAL physical issues. I really DO hope you get there one day.

Hey buddy, I’m trying my best with this one, every which way to get it through but sometimes it will never work, some people just can’t help themselves, the programming is too good. Couple that with antidepressants that stop them reaching higher frequencies and happiness and the governments have basically won, another NPC.
