It's just not quite as simple as all that, because Homosexuality only flourishes when a given society accepts -and promotes- depravity as in ancient Rome and to a lesser extent, Athens. But, the flip side of that coin is a totally repressive society that nourishes no one as it tramples the free will of all. All civilisations have also been built upon shifting sands which is another reason that history seems to repeat itself with some regularity.

Rome was a thriving Republic for 500 years BEFORE it became an Empire and it wasn't until 400 years later that the great Empire finally crumbled. During the centuries of it's Republic, Rome was truly great as it expanded boundaries, nurturing a positive culture wherever it conquered [which is where the U.S. was at about 50 years ago]. It actually wasn't until the final 200 years of the Empire that the greed and depravity it enjoyed -under rulers Tiberius, Claudius, Nero, Caligula, Galba and Otho- that mighty Rome became the most corrupt society ever to exist on this planet.

Our current timeline -under President Trump- is most similar to that of Divus Augustus, who was the final "moral" leader of the Republic before the slow death of the Empire began under its later despots.

BUT: the United States has moved far more swiftly than the Romans ever did. We are a YOUNG nation of not even 250 years, yet we have accomplished in that short time what it took Rome twice as long to do!

So, I guess we have that in our favor... until you realise that our decline will also arrive much more quickly as well.

SO: if you think it's bad now... you ain't seen NOTHIN' yet! At 65, I may not be around to see it all come crashing down - but I sincerely pity those in their 30's and 40's because theirs are the dreams that will shatter before their eyes.
