Do you think a country where they publicly stone women to death and string up people on the street corners is advanced? It doesn't matter even if they've developed an anti-gravity device or FTL drive. There are still backwards due to gender bias, polygamy and other barbaric forms of behavior. How is polygamy illegal here? Any man can live with as many women as he wants, as long as he doesn't marry them. And in fact he could marry them in some kind of non-state sanctioned ceremony if he wanted to. It's only the state that doesn't sponsor or sanction polygamy in the strict legal sense of an official marriage. Unofficially a man can have a house full of concubines. What would they charge him with? That's what Muslims here have been known to do. Bring one of their wives as wife, others as cousins or something like that. They ALL qualify for food stamps. .
