Voting Rights Will Soon Be Restored To Over 1 Million Former Felons In Florida

Tuesday will mark an extraordinary milestone for Florida as the right to vote is restored to more than 1 million former felons in the state.

In what’s described as one of the largest enfranchisements of U.S. citizens in the past 100 years, most ex-felons in the state who have completed the terms of their sentence, including parole and probation, can register to vote either online or at their local elections office beginning Jan. 8. The measure doesn’t apply to those convicted of murder or a felony sexual offense.

I can't believe this passed.

"We"(Hillsborough County) also voted to increase our sales tax by 1.5 %.

As a friend of mine who has a blue collar business in Florida put it to me once as he complained about 15 to 40 ex felons just showing up on his work doorstep WEEKLY looking for a job (paraphrased since I can't remember his exact quote - it was better, and funnier, than my memory lol)

"Florida ... the first place EVERY FELON goes to when he is released from Prison anywhere in the eastern half of the country. Sun, Babes, Beaches, Alcohol, and a desire for fast fun times sends them all here within weeks of their Prison release."

YEP ... not surprised with it being a million souls. In fact when it's all said and done you may end up with another 500,000 ex Felons that you didn't even realize were in the state!!

The operative word here is "Former Felon". As in, this individual has served their time in prison and has been qualified as being rehabilitated after parole to return to law abiding productive society.

If they can keep their heads above water and obey the law and participate in civilization, then they should be allowed to vote.

If they fuck up and break the law... back to prison for another 15 years of ass rape.
