It's pretty telling what Russia's intentions are with Venezuela when the country is rife with poverty, corruption, electrical blackouts, lack of food, lack of medicine, etc. and one of the first things Russia announces after arriving is that they are going to set up a helicopter flight training school to teach people how to fly Russian made helicopters.

Why they not handng out food or organising its distribution, or fixing infastructure like electrical grid thats overloaded, poorly maintained, and insufficient capacity for demand spikes that then blows out the system. Don't forget - it is the Chinese that have to make all the huge parts for our electrical grid - that's the only way we can replace them after a grid down. Shocking, isn't it? Why don't we have a plant of our own, and supply for us and other friendly countries? But no time now.

My heart goes there too - terrible suffering at the hands of politicians, as always. Water, food, power, just basics, but Maduro is quite plump - no hunger for politicans. Clean clothes on him always - has water for himself!

I hear what you are saying and I am not an expert in industrial manufacturing of electrical grid components, but I would imagine that not much of that which would be used over here for the power grid is built by the Chinese.

They are after all a rather sheep-like nation of dull thinkers and unrepentant thieves and despite us thinking that they build EVERYTHING, they really don't build the biggest and most expensive/boutique things in our world. For example, the best guitars are not made by Chinese. The best cars are not made by Chinese. The best watches are not made by Chinese. I would imagine the biggest, baddest and most impressive electrical grid components are also not made by them.

I could be wrong, but that is just my hunch.

This is actually official government word, as I recall from first shocking learning of it. These pieces are huge, require minimum two oversize trucks, and will require rebuilding of roads wide enough to accept the load when delivered.

I do not have the least understanding of why only Chinese are making these, but it apparently is a fact. It should be in threads on here - don't recall which.

Downright terrifying, considering we could become worse enemies with China and no matter who took out our grid, China could refuse to make the parts, without which we will have no power again! Crazy situation - don't know why it hasn't been "fixed". Our grid and parts are so old that we are already in need of pieces from them. No idea if any have been ordered.
