Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76065167 Because the information you give THEM from your phones every minute of every day is way WAY to valuable !!!! THEY , are not about to end that data stream. No fucking way will they kill all the data streams with an EMP..... the threat of an EMP is bullshit ! It will NEVER EVER happen!!!! Mark my words ! Never gonna happen...... I don’t think so either. These are just scare tactics to get people to panic. |

In that show there were people that were never able to make it home because it was too far. Overseas in some cases. So preps did them no good. You should be able to survive no matter where you are in the world. Or never leave your home. Remember there is safety in numbers. |

Look around you, electricity runs most of the stuff you are looking at, or was used to build it or is necessary to maintain it. Freaking gas pumps, medical devices, telephone towers(cells), everything is connected somehow to electricity. For light just burn something and you'll have it. Big Problem, all nuclear plant will melt down because their emergency cooling only last a short time. Fukushima everywhere. But of course not many will mind because they are looking for water to drink, who cares about radiation that will kill you a a few months. Not true, at least in the US. After Fukushima, safeguards were put in place in the US, that required all nuke plants to run cooling with off grid power for an indefinite period. This means that the effect of smaller (~kiloton) weapons on long-line power and telephone cables, which couple most effectively to E3, will also be much less than in the megaton cases; however, the E1 fields from such weapons may still be sufficient to disrupt and/or destroy the electronic controls of the power-delivery systems, as well as computers, Blackberrys, cell phones, etc., located within or close to the peak-field region. Tests with EMP simulators have shown that a very short pulse of about 10-7 Joule is sufficient to damage a microwave semiconductor diode, and roughly .05 J will damage an audio transistor, whereas 1 J would be required for vacuum tube damage [ref. 5, pp. 522–4]. More precisely, the limit is defined in terms of the instantaneous (few nanoseconds risetime) power delivered to the IC [19]. A few watts to a few hundred watts of power are sufficient to destroy most ICs, when delivered in a few nanoseconds (e.g. 10-7 J /10-8 sec = 10 W). Thus, how quickly the EMP E1 pulse is delivered affects the consequent IC damage. Note that the pulse length increases as one goes further from the peak field region [6], and this is another reason (besides the natural decrease of the E1 field strength) to expect somewhat less damage towards the periphery of the exposed region, especially for a small (~1 kiloton) device. less than fifty The dead are just the undead waiting to happen. Big Problem, all nuclear plant will melt down because their emergency cooling only last a short time. Fukushima everywhere. But of course not many will mind because they are looking for water to drink, who cares about radiation that will kill you a a few months. That is incorrect... The majority of US nuclear power plants are able to remove the nuclear rods from the pile by using mechanical means. The pile can be deactivated. It quickly cools to slightly above room temperature. The problem stems through evaporation of water in the pool. Once the water evaporates, then you get radiation that is contained by the dome and structure. If the structure and dome is damaged, then the radiation can leak out. This radiation is limited in range and scope by wind. It is not as deadly as Fukushima because, they couldn't deactivate the pile. Plus Fuku had structural damage that allowed radiation to leak out into the air and water... |

Go to any of their operating company websites (Appalachian Power, AEP Ohio, Public Service Oklahoma, AEP Texas, Southwestern Electric Power Company, Indiana Michigan Power, Kentucky Power), and check outages, they are constant, and often times involves thousands of people. It wouldn't take much to take it all down. |
