Probably just needs a new heating element. They are cheap (compared to a repairman or a new stove) and you can do it yourself in well under 10 minutes if you aren't a complete retard.

Turn it on broil & see if the upper element glows red.

Good one, Lance.

Actually, if this is legit, is it gas or electric? And what is it doing?

Re: My Oven Quit Working
My wall oven stopped working back in October. It came with the house I bought and I literally only used it once.

It's a 1950's Caloric oven.

I didn't want to bother with trying to fix it, etc.
So I have been patiently waiting to have enough money to buy a new one, and I FINALLY have enough to order it this weekend. It will be nice to bake again...

What a coincidence, my microwave broke about an hour ago.

It just stopped working. It worked fine this morning.

Oh well it was old

thanks ... my little "pizza oven" (over my full sized gas one )- which I use 90% of the time, stopped working... I thought maybe it was fouled up, so I auto-cleaned it ... and it worked again ..... ONCE

so I was looking for the name of the part I needed... I suspected it had something to do with the "spark" because the little brain thinks its pre-heating, only its not because it never fired up

I'll try looking for an "igniter" vid ... I knew it was an easy fix ... I appreciate your hint

Re: My Oven Quit Working
Just start a small fire using twigs and paper right in the bottom drawer of the oven.

That's what the droor is actually for. Lots of people store extra pans down there. Not what it's for.

It's for when your oven quits working, u just use the "fire" setting if it doesn't have one just leave the dials In the off position.

If it won't stay lit, add some flammable liquid down there and some oily rags...

Heating element, very inexpensive and easy to fix. The part will probably cost you about $30.

Yep.. That's usually the culprit if it's a gas stove.

If gas it's the heating element thingy that glows and starts the flame. You can usually remove from the back of the oven pretty easily. Any repair place can test it for you first before buying a new one.

Fix it if you have to.

I wouldn’t buy a new one until this Mercury retrograde is over. In fact I’d wait until after the shadow period is over (~April 15th) because this Merc/Ret is particularly nasty.
