I can't believe people are STILL going to Mexico to vacation either.

Just after my last trip there about 18 months ago they bombed the Playa del Carmen to Cozumel ferry, and tried to bomb it a second time. That doesn't even count the gang shootings in the local tourist bars in that town, where tourists were killed, that they have tried to hush up.

Down the road Cancun itself had a rash of drug gang murders right downtown just after I was there.

One can't forget the BAD ALCOHOL that was being served at some of the 4 and 5 star resorts that was causing people to black out, women to be raped, and even a few deaths.

In the tourist downtown when I was there the police were virtually all carrying machine guns or M-16's and pickup truckloads of police (2 in front, 4 in back) were cruising by about every 60 to 90 seconds.

Take a side trip and voila, heavy MILITARY presence, including road blocks on all the major highways.

Mexico is now verboten for me even with as much fun I have had there over the years and the GREAT prices for doing a vacation there.

NOW the DR is getting bad also. Friend who is from there HATES going back, he says the crime is now rampant. The only reason he does go back at all is to see his very aged mother a couple of times a year but he doesn't let his kids (all US born) go except once every couple of years.

I would NEVER rent a car and drive myself in ANY third world country. Crime, crooked police, crooked courts, with everybody out to SCAM the tourist. Daughter of one of my friends only got out of Mexico after a traffic accident with a $40,000 bribe to the local police chief, and that was 15 years ago, it is worse now.

Tell me again Democrats ... WHY do you want people with THOSE values coming into the US unrestricted?

Being darker skinned people, they shouldn't have rented a car to take local roads to the major airport.

Crime Lord's mistook them for black Dominican locals and robbed them or stole the car..they could be on foot.

Odds are high somebody at the car rental agency was in on it...or...they got into some shady shit and it went left.

They are either deceased or faking their disappearance. Could've simply been an auto accident.

I went to med school in the DR and yes, you have to be out of your fxcking mind to visit there. They actually have bill boards telling people not to rob tourists.

...Med School in the Dominican Republic? So you work at McDonald's now?
