Anonymous Coward User ID: 43686349 United Kingdom 05/18/2019 08:56 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's much easier if you're not around other smokers. Quoting: CK Dexter Haven I finally quit for good when I was secluded on a farm, with no one to bum a smoke from when having a coffee or beer. I live a few miles from my friends, and no one smokes at work pretty much, so that's not going to impact me much, but I understand the importance of staying the fuck away. |
HarshingMyMellow User ID: 77633909 United States 05/18/2019 12:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I figured out I could either mindlessly smoke for the rest of my life, or I could consciously not smoke for the rest of my life. Because when you quit, you are consciously aware of it every time you want one. If you smoke, you don't think about it at all. Or, at least, that is me. I have quit for four years, I have quit for six months, but eventually, I think I can have just one. I just quit a week ago now, again. ========================== Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. |

Then, since you waited that long, wait until AFTER you eat breakfast, cos it makes your breakfast taste like shit anyway. Then, instead of smoking IMMEDIATELY after breakfast, like Pavlov's monkees . . . Wait until you drive to work. If you smoke before bed, make youself skip that last one and wait until morning. The longer you can wait between smoking, the more it aggravate s you that you keep craving them because they are nasty af. They make your lips burn they stink they make your stomach hurt they stink they turn your fingers brown they stink people look like monkees when they smoke did i mention they stink? you will start to hate them and just stop smoking just don't try to force yourself to Quit cos then you'll feel like you're depriving yourself of something it's not really hard at all you don't have to "Quit", just stop . . . Great post thanks you can "take a break" without smokes too sometimes. bring a pencil and draw a picture while you "break" chew the end of the pencil. It's funny how different things taste without tobacco. good luck, if you need it |

Each time you think about smoking, open the jar and take a big whiff of it. The smell will turn you off smoking fast. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77577774 Great idea, that's better than the put it in milk shit that polish Nutter came up with Yeah how clever. Won't make a damn bit of difference though. |

So I smoke rolling tobacco, I like it strong, and I can smoke a cig every 30 mins in the evening, boredom thing I guess. I know the useawal, plenty of exercise etc etc , but what helped you? A pencil in your hand to simulate holding a cigarette and chewing gum nonstop. It will make your jaws hurt but it works. For me it did, anyway. |

First day, smoke 1/2 pack less, within a few days, I was down from a pack a day, to 6 or 7 a day. Now I'm down to 3 real cigs a day. Soon I won't be smoking real cigs at all. Tried to light my last one last night, tasted like I licked a telephone pole. Just losing my taste for real cigs. I started with the 24 mg cartridge. But it lasted 8 days, so very little nicotine now. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 57473568 United States 06/11/2019 09:00 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My advice on this topic is always ignored so I'm not even going to bother. Doesn't seem to be what people want to hear. Smoked my last ciggy 7 years ago. Quoting: Anonymous Cowlick Well now you gotta cough it up. Can't just say and not say. All right. So I had tried quitting cold turkey several times, tried the patch, tried the lozenges. Even tried vaping. Nothing worked. The closest I got to quitting was on the patch. So I decided to try the patch again, except this time I wasn't going to follow their step down program. I was going to stay on it as long as necessary, and step down at MY OWN pace. I would have stayed on the patch forever if need be. The patch didn't bother me at all once I got past the initial itchiness so I didn't mind. I didn't step down at all for like 6 months, and then after A YEAR I finally quit the patch entirely, and felt totally fine. No urge to smoke anymore. Anybody who says the only way to quit is cold turkey is wrong. I'm living proof that is not true. I went nuts when I tried to quit cold turkey. But everybody is different. |

Ahava User ID: 76993701 United States 06/11/2019 02:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Vaping... I smoked for 30 years and never touched another cigarette after I got my first e-cig. Come August, that will be 8 years ago. I started with a good tobacco flavored juice and added a bit of menthol. It was a year before I could vape any other flavor. I had tried everything before that. I never wanted another cigarette after I started vaping. It's about 4 times cheaper also once you get the initial cost out of the way. Good luck with however you decide to do it! Surround yourself with people who get it. |
