People today are afraid of work | |

Quoting: Bananafighter I wonder how this country would have turned out if during the industrial revolution they complained the same way. I wonder how this country would have grown and become a superpower if these people had to live back then. Assembly lines where you did nothing but the same thing day in and day out. You got hired but you weren't the manager within a month. Street sweeping, lamp lighting, dirty jobs cleaning up horse shit all day. They have the old saying, work hard, play hard. Except today these kids just want to play hard without any of the work. They want to get a job making $50,000 a year from the start, have no real responsibilities, no desire to sweat and then they want to be in charge after a month. They don't want to earn what they have they want it to be given. Guess what, real work is sometimes hard and painful. I've done home maintenance, apartment maintenance and hotel maintenance. It is all hard work where you can get hurt. Try working on a car for a living. Do some plumbing or maybe some electrical work. Try building something out of wood. I once worked at a wine making factory. I did the same thing everyday all day. I got my 30 minute lunch and that was it. I didn't complain about how hard it was or how dangerous it was. I didn't complain about not getting paid enough or not having benefits. I was happy I had the job. These kids today are afraid of hard work, dedication, sweating, blooding and everything else that goes into a hard job. They want to sit back and do as little as possible for as much as possible and if you tell them that's not how it works. They look at you as if you have done them wrong and the complain that you are holding them back, that the job is unsafe, boring, to hard, unfair and doesn't pay enough for the work they are doing. would you give that same speech to the career politicians, celeberties <- don't give a shit how it's spelled, silver spooned kids, and everyone else that fits the bill. |

They tried to make me be on call 24/7. Every day at 5pm they’d call me or the other manager in and say we have to work a shift til 6am. I finally said “No! Nobody wants to work here because you don’t pay well. So get an agency nurse in here to work your open shifts.” The coward manager said she’ll do another 24hr shift TO SAVE THE COMPANY MONEY. We got no extra pay for all these 24hr shifts . She was a coward like everyone else. Millennials want the standard of life Boomers has the opportunities for . |

Well thank god americans did and fought for 8 hr work days, 5 days a week, and safety in the workplace. Cowards like you do nothing to improve the quality of life for a nation of people! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76004857 Millennials want the standard of life Boomers has the opportunities for . Quality of life? A relative statement and sentiment. Quality of life is different for everyone. Some people find great quality in working hard dangerous jobs. Some people find quality in work 12+ hour days. Some people find quality in standing in one spot putting things together. Quality of life is different for everyone. Some people find quality in doing as little as possible. Millenials want everything for almost nothing. Free college, free healthcare, free housing, free food, free everything. When boomers were coming up in the work force you could smoke in buildings and on planes. You could tell a woman "nice ass" without fear of losing your job. You could buy a car that sucked the gas right out of it the second you started it. You had to work hard to EARN what you had. No one was going to give it to you. The same goes for the generations before them as well. Then people decided that everything was bad for them and that the government needed to step in and control everything. No smoking in the office, on the plane, in your car, in the park, in your home. The irony is that while you are smoking that cigarette on the sidewalk and someone walks by and ask you why you're smoking and that it's hurting them, they pay no mind to the diesel truck sitting idle in traffic right next to them spewing out its exhaust right in their direction. They complained that compliments were bad to the point were men don't want to work anywhere near women for fear of getting accused of something simply for smiling at them wrong. Millenials don't want any standard of life. They simply want it all given to them and then to be told what standard of life is the right one. |
