Bought a new turntable, but there is a problem!
The turntable has a pre-amp, so it can't be hooked up to the phono jack, as they say this will cause distortion. They say to hook it up to the Aux. jack, but there is not such a thing on my receiver/amp. It does have a video hook up, so wondering if that would work? Any thoughts on this. The receiver is a Denon, and the new turntable is a Pioneer.

Turn off the pre-amp. Or connect to CD input.

Don't you have a free stereo input somewhere on the Denon?

VCR/CD, anything should work.

You need a mixer to go into, not straight into your Denon. Get a small mixer, then at least you can EQ your table output. Good luck

Buy a vinyl record, then buy the SAME CD, and use a mixer and A/B them with flat EQ. You'll be surprised.

If it has a built in pre amp plug it into aux simple.

or cd or vid1 or vid2 or any audio jack on your amp.

the reason for the phono jack is because it already has a pre amp for running the pickups on turn tables.

Now interesting fact because your phone jack has a pre amp there good and fun to plug your Guitar into lol .

If he has a Denon that is the last thing he would want to do.

Do you know what Denon is

Denon is high c low B rate audiophile, which means a suitable mixer is going to set him back about a thousand and why would you want that when the whole objective is to buy quality so high tone control is moot. Even C rated audiophile is UP THERE.

A Denon ought to have phono, tape, CD and video inputs plus an additional called AUX. If the turntable has a pre amp just use AUX or CD or tape.

Oh ffs kid, Denon is a brand yah tard. He means a Denon receiver. If clowns like you want to go through multiple sub folders to eq a record (different eras require different EQ) then by all means, go ahead.
A 2 channel Mackie or Euro mixer will be 100$ used. Enjoy your sub folders!!! Buhahahaha

Sure. Hook the audio up to left and right and leave the yellow (video) puka empty. It should work fine.

Re: Bought a new turntable, but there is a problem!
No auxillary on this receiver, but there is a video/DAD spot, so thanks for the info, I think I will try that. This Denon is pretty old, over 20 years, and my last Panasonic turntable was close to 40 years old, which is why I went with Panasonic again. It was half the cost of the Technics! I have maybe 400 or so vinyls from the 70's to the early 90's, and like to listen to them now and again!

This is obviously coming from someone who has never heard the pleasing sounds of a diamond needle skipping over a scratched album or mastered the fine art of hitting the turntable to get past the scratch.
