This is so ridiculous kids have always been cash cows. Is it still ok for commercials on tv to market to these same children? Why can’t Democrat’s just be responsible parents instead of needing the government to regulate their children for them?

Probably because their own children are spending our tax dollars, the politicians have their hands in our pockets and their kids hands in theirs lol

how the hell are these 'kids' getting the funds to buy these clever strategies of soaking the players? Are the parents complaining to the government for their own lack of ability to simply say 'no'?

Loot Boxes do not help you win games. Children are very vane these days, and have to make their avitar personalized. They waste money on that shit. I play have for 39+ 0ears and never buy loot boxes, waste of time. It's just another method of making gobs of money off stupid poors.

I've never given this much thought before but there is a certain validity to it.

Legislation may make the market cater (in lip service) to a more adult market but eventually exposing children to a more adult game experiences(because mom/dad are gamers too)...

...any prohibition however noble its intentions, has unintended consequences.

I’m actually surprised they caught onto this. I never understood what the difference between these loot boxes are and gambling. It’s basically like buying a scratcher that has a virtual item like a bike or something you can sell for real world money.

These kids go crazy for the gambling high and even start hacking to learn to steal from other kids. It’s messed up.

To be fair, this is the kind of thing our government should be doing. Instead of the mass propaganda from both sides creating hate and division of the people and threatening to take away constitutional right and labeling everything as hate speech, they should be doing more things like this.

The designers make the game as addictive as possible and use predatory tactics. They make the game nearly impossible to win unless you pay, or they offer you a chance at a desirable item. You could spend unlimited amounts trying to get it, because it’s electronic they can cheat you. It’s total scam. Insidious.

I've played video games since I was 4. Microtransactions have ruined gaming.

The quality of games have gone way down over the years. It's pretty obvious to most gamers.

I have to agree. I normally am for the government staying out of stuff and am against banning stuff. But these games are absolute garbage and outright predatory.

They sucker people in by claiming to be free to play. Then once you hit a certain point you have to either pay ridiculous amounts(I've heard like hundreds or even thousands a month) to progress.
Worst of all are gachas. Where you pay ridiculous amounts for a very small chance to get what you want.

Even worse pretty much all games nowadays are like this. It's really gotten out of control.
The few idiots that are willing to spend such ridiculous amounts of money, and these predatory companies that cater to them, that are ruining the gaming market for everyone.
