TURNOVER is my friend.

I hire 'em. If they so stupid or stoned that they are a safety risk...layoff.

If they are lazy...layoff.

If they cannot learn simple things after being instructed multiple times...layoff.

If I catch them playing on their phone when they are supposed to be working...layoff.

If they want a raise after only two weeks on the job...layoff.

I have a GREAT crew. They are mostly hard working LEGAL immigrants who grew up with a hoe in their hand on the farm in the Old Country. They don't mind hard, hot, dirty work. They are proud to support their families.

I give them bonuses and raises when A. They earn it and B. the Company can afford it.

I have a friend who has a similar company. He is a very nice and generous man. However, he has paid his employees so much that he cannot sell his company now that he is at retirement age. Those employees will lose their jobs when he dies or goes broke. He has never turned a profit because he paid it all out to his employees.

I don't think it's 'feelings' that we older generations are worried about....it's the 'brains' part that has us worried about the future.
