I believed that music was going to get better-er and better-er... No way jay! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77223038 Evolution is a lie. ----------------------------- It is all relative. Music in the past sucks as well one could say. Also the lyrics of yesterday. Yea Satisfaction by the Rolling Stones is such a great song. LOL. A five year old guitar player can play that silly guitar riff. Mick Jagger wouldn't make the audtions today on the Voice. Bob Dylan give me a brwak. What you think is good music probably sucks to most. |

It doesn't matter that a 5 year old could play that riff - it's still a badass riff. Try finding a modern song that will still be listened to 50 years from now. You won't be able to. |

Sutton Coldfield User ID: 77606505 Australia 06/17/2019 08:28 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Today's music doesn't invalidate the evolution of music, it more so proves it. Recording an album of songs was once a rather costly event, and good studios had a monopoly that doesn't exist in the industry as much any more. This is mostly because of the increasing power of computers, and their ability to turn every bedroom PC into a recording studio hundreds of times more powerful than the studios that the Beatles used for recording. Most of the Beatles songs were recorded on two track machines, and I think that they got to use four tracks by the time of Sergeant Pepper's. The biggest shift in the system is the reversal of the road to glory. You used to have to first prove yourself worthy by paying your dues on the road, performing live 24/7/52, becoming a master of your art. These days most acts are put together for their looks/attitude, and a video is produced by an advertising agency that targets a certain demographic. If the song sells they have to find people that can play instruments before they can take it on the road. There is probably as many brilliant bands and great songwriters out there now, but they are harder to find with all of the static pollution and the white noise shit that passes for music these days. Get out of iTunes and get out to see live bands, there are millions of great musicians out there that you can enjoy at your local bar. |

Evolution has let us down... if there was any such thing as evolution in the first place. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Why I think that the reason that music changed? Because the new gen never had any guitar players that were even close to the same league that these guys, and people around the same time... are. Nobody could hold a candle to them - guitar wise.... so them, and the whole music industry.... bailed. [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] (Most of them) bailed, to the point where the music does not feature good guitar players any longer... The popular music of today has been fundamentally changed. And instead of people owning up to this, they make all kinds of excuses... Whatever. We know the deal. :'musicians'bailing: |

Satisfaction is a classic because it has all the elements of Rock: 1) Three chords in the key of E 2) Buzz saw guitar riff 3) Bad grammar 4) Gritty singing 5) Youthful angst |

All the really good musicians are old et souls that came to entertain and please another et soul who was forced to incarnate back in the sixties and needed bands of minstrels and poets to keep him sane. Hopefully somehow this trend will reverse itself.. in the future(?) |
