But I must admit I remember a few years back you were in a tough situation personally and created a thread asking for help. Several, including Trin, stepped up and helped you financially. You have to understand that you cannot depend on this site and it’s members to save you from the decisions you make that are not aligned as good ones. Miggy (OP) User ID: 22845984 United States 06/25/2019 05:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I want to thank all of you for such kindness. This morning I created a GoFundMe account but it's not very professional looking and I don't want to post it without Trinity's permission. I had another job interview today so there is always hope. I try to apply for 5 online every day. I want to work so badly and not be a burden to anyone. I'm just so scared of losing what I worked so hard to obtain (my apartment and sobriety). You have all been so very nice to me and I sincerely appreciate it. With Love, Miggy and Miggy |

Quoting: Random NiNe Random, you are right about this. I was helped tremendously. I apologize if I have offended you. I simply don't understand what other choice I had under these circumstances. I worked consistently and constantly full-time for the past 3 years. Employee of the month twice this last year as well as two special commendations from the district office. I'm sorry I lost my job. Many others in our company did too. But thank you for your advice and I hope you have a good week. Love, Miggy |

They often have resources. Quoting: jinntintin We recently had to leave our apartment due to out of control violence and ongoing gas leak issues. If not for a bit of super fortunate extra cash we probably would've died there with all the other people who ended up dead on their floors. The housing situation is killing real people. A lot of the marginalized housing people are being pushed into is not just stressful but dangerous. Jinn, I am so sorry about your situation. Yes, I understand about the violence in these apartment buildings. Last summer there was gunfire almost nightly outside my windows so I made sure Miggy and I were inside with lights out by 8 PM. But this is the cheapest available in this city and it's still $600 a month plus electric and water. It is supposed to be a controlled, gated community but the gates haven't worked since I moved in a year ago and are always wide open. Despite many of us complaining they say they can't help it because people keep breaking them. At $11 an hour it's just very hard for one person to live alone and make it. By the way, I prefer attending church and Celebrate Recovery. If there is a walmart near you they pay at least 10 bucks an hour. Find an apartment near them and you could walk to work. If you had a car you could deliver pizzas and make even more money. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 73317202 United States 06/25/2019 06:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was forced to resign from a full-time job I've had the past 3 years last month after an illness (pneumonia) and excessive absenteeism due to the illness and a family member's death. Quoting: Miggy I am currently waiting for my unemployment claim to be approved while I continue job hunting every day. Today is the last day for me to pay rent plus late charges or I am going to be evicted. I've been living paycheck to paycheck these past 3 year so I have no money saved up for such an event as this. Does anyone know if the judges who handle these cases are sympathetic to the length of time it takes for unemployment to be approved? I don't plan on sneaking out and not paying- in fact, I don't have anywhere to go if I did. I've never been in this position before and was wondering if anyone has any answers? Prayers of encouragement would be very much appreciated. Miggy PS. If I had anything of value I would sell it but I own very little belongings and they're not really worth anything. If you can leave someone in the house 24/7 you can stay in the house for up to 8 months or more I think even if they try to evict you. You still have squater rights depending on the state you live in...not ideal but if the guy is being a dick and still wants you out after paying him what you owe it gives you some time to find a new place or something Also set up a go fund me page and post it on here and ask for some help. We all need to help eachother...even if all someone can spare is $5 ...we need to help eachother Don't feel bad about it...I would gladly donate to a good person who has hit some hard times than a corrupt organization that spends most on administration fees I'm sure others here would feel the same God bless |

Quoting: Random NiNe Sometimes life is unfair to good people...and no matter how much you "prepare" it will still wipe you out and clobber you That's just the way of the world You can tell some people in this thread have never faced real adversity in their life with comments like "get off your lazy butt and get a job" Life might be beautiful, but the system and society is cold, dark, and ruthless |

He has always brought me through troubled times and I have been so fortunate to have a solid, productive life the past 3 years. Quoting: Miggy But this is really scary to me today, realizing this may be the last couple of days I have a home. Mostly I am grateful that I have not relapsed because surely this situation would drive others back into wanting a drink of alcohol. He will NOT forsake you. Pray in complete faith. No doubt. Give thanks, and expect God's blessings. In the name of Jesus, may our heavenly Father grant you and yours an angel to guide you. May the Most High grant the desires of your heart. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 77013656 United States 06/25/2019 06:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Thank you, Cynical. Quoting: Miggy Yes, this really stings because I have worked really hard the past 3 years after moving here to go int a recovery treatment program for what had quickly become an alcohol addiction. My typical day began at 4 AM when I would walk to the bus stop and go to work from 8 to 5 then return back home and get home about 6 PM. The apartment complex is non-negotiable when you are late with rent. If I dn't pay by the close of today then I also have to pay for July's rent before going to court on Thursday. My place of employment automatically denies the first claim individuals make and I am now in appeals which I believe I will get but it's time consuming. Frankly I am scared to death at the moment. Thank you for caring. My monthly expenses have left only about $25 a month for anything extra and I recently needed to use that for my trip home to the funeral and for my little Miggy who got sick and needed to visit the vet. When it rains it pours. At least it's been 3 good years. I've been there more than I like to admit. You can try calling your States Welfare office. You might get directed to a few churches that offer help if the person on the other line is helpful. Maybe try Gofundme and really explain your situation. At this point a lot of ideas will feel like long shots but that's how it is in these times, don't give up. Do not drink or use anything illegal (no judgement from me, I had my day). Substance abuse can make the difference between getting help versus nothing. Do you know of any elderly needing help caring for themselves that can offer a room to sleep in? I'll pray for you, I really felt your dispair reading. Good luck |

You have to understand that you cannot depend on this site and it’s members to save you from the decisions you make that are not aligned as good ones. Quoting: Random NiNe A recent study showed that pretty much everyone is only one or two paychecks away from being right where Miggy is today. I've read Miggy's posts for years, she doesn't appear to be the sort of person given to wild partying and three-day-casino binges. I doubt very much that she squandered any funds which she may have had. She's sort of a GLP "mascot", and I'm glad that we're all here for her and perhaps able to help out a little bit. Who is to say that one of us may not be in the same position in six months, and God willing there will be some GLPers standing ready to help out then too. Sometimes there are emergency funds for, well, emergencies. At least he might be able to direct you to a food bank for some groceries....?
