Re: Strategies for acute bronchitis

Pollen irritates the lining and often lookly like spiked objects and that makes the respiratory lining prone to viral and bacterial infections. Then all the routine irritants like dust and mold get a foothold.

You might try a special air filter in her room to remove particulates from being breathed in.

All good there except also get rid of inhaler.

Coricosteroids will eventaully damage kidney and cause other problems.

Even with the limited use thus far, some kidney damage has probably been done which will not become evident until the body has been stressed by either illness or other means.

Re: Strategies for acute bronchitis
sorry to hear op.
listen op, from someone who went through my entire childhood and adolescence and beyond with bronchitis and/or pneumonia at least once a year.

VITAMIN D3!

for the past 20 years I started taking up 5000 IU (international units) of D3 per day. a lot less in the summer when i could get sun.

since then, i have never had either illness again.
research it. i don't know how uch it will help for this current illness, but will most likely prevent future problems.

i make sure to take it with magnesium and k2. you should look all of this up though.

specifically: pneumonia bronchitis D3 magnesium k2 (or something like this).

most of us in the northern hemisphere are very low in d3 during the winter months and that extends into the summer if we don't get enough sun. sunblock and the scare of skin cancer makes this even worse.

good luck hf

Lyposomal vitamin c has a better absorption rate than these drugstore vitamin c and it want mess your stomach up with high doses. Put it simply we don’t produce vitamin c like animals do that is why you don’t see animals get sick. My family has been taking lyposomal vitamin c and not one of us has been sick or had any lung issues in the last 7 years. Do your research or better yet go to amazon and do a search on this product and read the thousands of reviews and you’ll find out these people don’t get sick either. My lungs have been my down fall all my life until these last 7 years and copd is not reversible and my pulmonologist cant believe what he is seeing. Take high doses to start with and then cut back to smaller doses and watch bronchitis become a thing of the past.

Sigh ... I know. Even tho I toss the other scripts, I haven’t been brave enough to toss the inhaler. It scares me when she’s struggling to catch her breath. But I hate the inhaler too. I would love to not feel like I need it when she gets sick like that.

I agree that it is very scary when you cannot breathe.

But in order to solve the problem permanently, I would suggest getting a portable oxygen shot tank and trying to ramain calm when it happens. And I already know, trying ot remain calm when one cannot breathe is much, much easier said than done.

However, long term use of corticos will weaken the kidney to the point that 'modern medicine' (doctors) will tell you that they will need to switch to another type of steroid, because the one you have no longer works to shorten the episodes, ie, they have damaged you enough that now you need even stronger synthetic meds which has now created a deadly spiral downward in health.

Basically anything natural is good and anything synthetic is bad for you.

If you try the oxygen route to replace the corticos, then you should try to take some type of natural adrenal supplement which are available on the internet.

If you are interested in going the all natural route, you can get the correct herbs and a phone consultation from

Dr. Mariah McCain a world class herbalist at

I have no affiliation with her, but have used their services and products for many years with good results, so I have no qualms about recommending them.

Re: Strategies for acute bronchitis
When using oxygen, there is a canula and a mask. The mask is better because the nasal passages can be restricted. You want a bubbler to moisten the oxygen or else it will be too arid.

I live in Western Kentucky which is part of the Ohio Valley. This is NOT a good location for those with asthma as we occasionally have trapped air that settles full of pollens (this is subtropical and so has a very long growing season) and a haze comes in untilr a good thunderstorm clears it. That seasonally can happen in August.

Certain areas should be avoided. Similarly in parts of the American Southwest, coccidiodies mycosis is a big problem due to aerated soil from erosion and few wind breaks. Patients will aspirate soil, mold, fungi, bacteria, virus and this particularly happens when there is drought. Coccidiodes is often misdagnosed as a patient grew up in that region then relocated.

AKA Valley Fever.

To detect it properly, sometimes they do a bronchial lavage which is when a small amount of fluid is breathed in and then expeled so a sample directly from the lungs has the contaminated particulate matter which can be analyzed.

Re: Strategies for acute bronchitis
This is kind of weird and I am definitely not prescribing this method as I came up with it myself, but seemed to work for me really well.

I have a colloidal silver spray I really low potency but from a reputable company.

Normally you can just spray this in your throat, but it doesn't get in the lungs.. so what I do is I spray it and take a deep breath in simultaneously making sure some of the mist gets into my lungs. Shit works miracles I swear.

Also this might be a no brainer, but make sure you change your filters on your air conditioning. I forgot to do it a couple years and my breathing got terrible! You have to do it every six months. Honestly I think Air Conditioning in general is probably adding to some of these issues.

Op this is my last post. My wife is cardiac and pulmonary RN nurse of 32 years and she has taken care of many many pulmonary patients and has pushed so many drugs thru these patients. She knows the heart and lungs real well and she wants to tell them to start on lyposomal vitamin c but she can’t because she could lose her licenses, the patients she knows on a personal level have started on lyposomal vitamin c and the results are amazing she says. Op go to amazon and search for aurora by nutrasciene mega- lysosomal and give her 1 pack in the morning and 1 in the evening and in a week or less she will see amazing results.[ RN RECOMMENDED ] if she stays on 1 pack a day i bet she want ever get it again.

Also getting a negative ion/ozone generator if you have AC as AC generates a lot of + ions which are bad for you.

I am a longtime user of oreganol p73 and can attest to its efficacy. I wish it wasn’t so expensive, and I am always unsure how exactly to use it, but even with my fumbling it has proven its worth and is a staple in my medicine cabinet. I am DEFINITELY going to look into the lyposomal Vitamin C.

Re: Strategies for acute bronchitis
My daughter got a severe case of bronchitis for the millionth time. Per usual they prescribed her an inhaler, an antibiotic and prednisone with instructions to take her to the hospital immediately if she developed a fever or symptoms of pneumonia.

Although the acute symptoms of bronchitis can last up to 2 weeks. My girl was feeling better within 2 days. Thought I would share our strategy in case it’s helpful for someone else.

I kept the inhaler and tossed the prednisone and antibiotic.
Complete bedrest and quarantine.
Humidifier with specific essential oils blowing right in her face.
Chicken noodle soup
Tea with Manuka Honey
Elderberry syrup
Vit C

She’s good as new except for a lingering cough which is to be expected. Although usually I can stop sickness at its entry point without anyone else catching it, this time I caught it. This is unusual, but I was coming off 3 back to back 13 hr shifts and I think my immune system was down.

Anyway, I used the same strategy minus the inhaler. Felt like death the entire day. My lungs were on fire. I slept as much as I could and the next day was fine except for a lingering cough.

Hope this helps someone. Blessings! hf

For the cough, rub on either Vicks vapor-rub or Tiger Balm on your chest at night before you go to sleep. It will open up your airways and lessen the cough.

Hi op

Another poster mentioned colloidal silver, I second that, but I would mention, try getting a humidifier as well, as well as taking it orally.

I recommend 20ppm, I get fast results with it.

Edit: use the silver in the humidifier

Sounds more like a chronic case of Mycoplasma pneumonia, Chlamydia pneumonia or Protomyzoa Rheumatica. I would try Bidens pilosa tincture, CSA tincture(cryptolepis most important), Coptis tincture and Nature's plus "Garlite". Start slow with 1 drop and work up.
