I know many animals had to be put down then, but didn't realize dogs were still around there. It's the part of Chernobyl series, nobody talks about. He explains they were, pets..so they wouldn't be afraid of people and would be friendly. Tough to watch, or even consider.. Even tougher to consider what led to accident to begin with. Hubris mostly. And then, top down squelching. The true evil of that kind of government. You can hear the dog barking in this scene..
