Trend in younger hospitalizations occuring

Hospitals in Texas reporting that half of hospitalizations and a third of critcal ICU cases are now patients under 50 years of age. Arizona, Florida and California beginning to see similar trends.

Genetic sequencing reveals COVID mutation

Infectious disease specialists studying COVID have found that the Wuhan strain which was prevalent in January was typified by D614D aspartic acid in the protein spike but has since mutated and by May, 95 percent of infections had a D614G protein spike mutation characterized by glycine in the protein spike.

Initial lab tests show that the new mutation is 10 times more contagious than the original.

Looking Forward

Given the recent surge in cases this past week in several states, it would not be unreasonable to expect daily deaths to be in the 3,500 new deaths per day range by mid-July.

The specter of hospitals being at capacity, PPE shortages and sustained economic damage is again in the cards.

I too have read everything you've posted UD and also you Jackal..in fact, your posts have been at the core of how and why I have made many decisions over the past 5 months. You all gave me and my family an edge on prepardness and some solitude in why we were doing what we needed to for us to navigate this situation. Thank you for your efforts.

Unfortunately, despite my background in this area I have not been able to convince too many others but I do continue to try.
