Visitor Restrictions Are Now In Place at Mission Health Hospitals (Asheville, NC)

There has been an increase in reported influenza-like illnesses throughout North Carolina. According to the North Carolina Public Health Division, the influenza-like illness activity in the state has reached more than 6 percent, and local transmission has increased.

As a result, Mission Health is implementing the Mission Health Visitor Restriction Policy, which means that only partners and immediate family members older than 12 will be allowed in patient care areas.

The number of reported flu cases has continued to increase statewide, triggering a threshold at which Mission Health will now restrict visitations.

This precaution is being implemented at Mission Hospital, member hospitals and affiliates in the Western North Carolina region. This includes CarePartners in Asheville, Mission Hospital McDowell in Marion, Transylvania Regional Hospital in Brevard, Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine, Angel Medical Center in Franklin and Highlands-Cashiers Hospital in Highlands.

I have a friend whose daughter is an ER nurse in Asheville, NC. She said her daughter had last weekend off and had made plans to go visit friends out of town. She was an hour away when she received a call from her work
demanding that she come in. She tried to argue with them that this was her first weekend off and that she was already on the road out of town. They told her it was a "full census" and they were calling EVERYONE in! My friend's daughter was pissed but she also loves her job so she cancelled her plans and turned around.

I asked what "full census" means and my friend said it means "EVERY BED IS FULL"!

This is at our main hospital here in Asheville. They may be short on beds and this happens alot or it could mean they are getting overwhelmed. Not sure, just thought I would leave this here fwiw.

There are way more cases than being reported. Cause of death in some cases is being cited as Influenza or Pneumonia not covid-19. The numbers are being hidden with the current flu season.

Al I will say is that there are hundreds of cases in 32+ states and cases in the thousands as suspected. It is not speculation. It is true.

It kills people of all races and ethnicity. So the naysayers can get fucked.

Quoting diagnosed Influenza A/B stats as possible Corona Virus shows how stupid these people are. Influenza and Corona Virus are 2 completely different animals.

As a retired RN (many friends still working), I have ONE TIME had to sign a NDA for a nasty bug in my facility. That was simply to stop people from alarming families of the patients. We posted notices on the door and did not allow visitors until it was contained. No doubt, same would happen in this situation.

I really am concerned and watching developments carefully but the stupidity here can sometimes be astounding!

Probably nothing but there has been a lot of Emergency Broadcasting System tests over the last couple of weeks. All of them were not warning that it was a test, just had the buzzer/beep and then back to radio.
