I don't know if it's because of my age (50+) but I can't find any redeeming qualities.

I remember when I got drunk for the first time when I was 16. It was like magic.

In my 20s it was good.

In my 30s I forgot about it.

Now... it's a total waste.

If you are an alcoholic, you can never safely use drugs. If you are a drug addict, you can never safely use alcohol.



If you are an alcoholic and you use drugs, you will either abuse drugs or return to drinking.


(Trust me on that one. Personal experience -- many times.)


If you are a drug addict and you drink, you will most likely return to your drug of choice or begin abusing alcohol.

(I have seen it time and time again in recovery.)

For those who still drink:
When I hit the bars, I treat alcohol like a prescription pharmaceutical - the number of shots / drinks per night must be limited to your person limit.

What is your limit? With most people it is 2 or 3 drinks.

Program yourself to stop there each time you drink. It can be done.

I never had a problem with it. Just lost interest in it my 30s and rarely drank ever since.

Now, I just don't see any point in drinking.

Same... I stopped drinking at 37 because it sucks, don't mind a beer but getting drunk is lame. I've been drunk 1 in 10 years now. I just think it sucks, no other reason needed.

If I drink 5% beer then i find doing stuff difficult and tend to just sit in a swamp of forgetfulness. 4.8% which is what it should be naturally I really enjoy it, I can still do stuff and I generally find I'm more relaxed and laugh more. They're banning 5% and over brews in the UK and I think it's a great move. Who needs 9% elephant larger, it tastes disgusting too.

Light beer is the way to go, and there is nothing wrong with having a few if you can handle it.

i love a glass or 2 of red wine before dinner ... they even say it is good for your heart ... fruit of the vine ... no carbs and very little sugar if you get the dry stuff

I drink a sixer or better every night and I have done it for 20 years. I am 57 now blood work looks good no liver issues.
