Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70220871 There will be no more vegan agenda pushed on any plane of existence, from now on plants will stay in the consciousness of 2D. although it makes a lot more sense to farm your land for vegetables and not meat doesn't it Yes, on a individual family level that makes much more sense. Animal farming for a family would take too much in resources and may fail due to lack of food, water, and protection for animals. I disagree. It doesn't take much room to keep homestead animals. For a family of 4 a trio of rabbits, a dairy goat and 6 chickens and can be fed your lawn clippings if you get a bag for your mower. What they don't eat fresh can be bagged into trash bags and left in the sun to make silage for winter food. Just don't use pesticides on your lawn. Maybe my views are biased living in the sticks. The average residential yard in town here is probably 1/8-1/4 acre. Plenty of room for a small coop, a rabbit hutch and a pen with doghouse for the goat, with room for a veggie garden and lawn to mow. your grass clipping will mold in a trash bag in the heat. chickens or any animal can't eat moldy food it will kill them. dumb idea. |

Take this bullshit and sell it somewhere else! One day we won't ,growing is also training new farmers from hobby to full industrial .. It is no joke its our survival Trump can do allot and we can implement food storage on a scale never before envisioned , even use it instead of money to support other countries. We would need National financing and legislative support A american as opposed forgiven flagged merchant marine to transport as policy to other countries instead of cash wich they leaders just loot and move to the US! Modern Livery Ships And a survival food stockpile ,which would be expensive and extensive but once done does not need to be done twice We can fill up a years worth of stored food every year for ourselves on top on the three daily we already eat 10 year shelf life is reachable for storage , we spend been llions store a years worth of ten year shelf life food ! Every year On year 6 we can release 300 million peoples worth of food as foreign aid !! In our new fleet of modern nuclear powered commercial ships! That's being great How many more years do we really have left? SAT IMAGE [link to rammb-slider.cira.colostate.edu] IMPACT:Gulf OF Alaska! En [link to yadi.sk (secure)] Ru [link to yadi.sk (secure)] |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76011788 Yes I do wish we kept a three year supply of grains in the USA as we once did! We are scheduled to sell millions of tons of pork to the Chinese Because of the loss of millions of pigs in China ... due to a swine VIRUS! Grain contract bids are up a little for the coming year but apparently not by much. I “think” we still pay farmers not to grow crops ... but I am NOT an expert. Perhaps someone in AGRI-Business will give us a report. I think so too. I think for some things we are the lead producers (apples? potatoes?) but for many other basic foods we are not. Plus food products made from crops may be offshored so something like corn is only useful as corn. If we are able to feed everyone, that is 75% of the battle. I think many would calm down if they weren't speculating on food shortages. For those who can, PLANT VEGETABLES. A lot of our produce comes from Mexico, Central America, and South America. The supply chain problems as well as transport will mean that veggies will be in short supply. I have a small farm. I know: 1. It is a LOT of hand labor in the hot sun. 2. The amount of veggies you can grow on a acre is BIG, very impressive. In my small town in Brazoria County, TX, 99% of the land is used as pasture or lawns. It can all be plowed and planted. I have offered to plow my neighbors' land as well as my own. Because of the early warnings on GLP, I am prepared with a tractor, diesel, implements, and seeds. What I lack is soil amendments and fertilizer. I simply did not have enough money to buy what I needed. Will check out the government grants, etc. to see if I can get what I need for full production. BTW, unlike a lot of areas, we have a mild winter climate. I can grow turnips, greens such as kale, beets, etc. just fine in the winter. If you even have a patio, get some veggies started in containers. A 55 gal. drum or large trash can will grow about 40 lbs. of potatoes. If we work together, no one will starve. |

A lot of old tobacco farmers wanted to simply dump the land and retire. He picked up prime land for $2k-$3k per acre!! He gave me his tip in 2014. I should have listened. I guess it's not too late.... going to give him a call today to see about the prices. |

last one I just don't give a fuck User ID: 60052792 United States 03/30/2020 03:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | And, the entire Missouri River basin, from South Dakota to the confluence with the Mississippi, and from STL Missouri to the Gulf of Mexico is almost totally exposed to another year of flooding, depending on amount of rainfall. The US Army Corps of Engineers, who are in control of the upstream dams water releases and the main river levees downstream, have done jack shit to repair the levees damaged and blown out from the floods of 2019. The red tape and bureaucracy for these levee repairs goes on for years before they spend a dime on the levees. Yet, they still turn the dams open upstream EVERY YEAR at peak flood season. Tens of thousands of acres of some of the most fertile farm ground in the USA is under imminent threat of not being able to be planted AGAIN in 2020. At work I have started to see articles creeping up warning of food shortages. When I try to warn people they just laugh or my warning just goes over their head like they didn't even hear me. So to prepare myself I managed to order 100 pounds of beans and rice from a restaurant supply business. And I tripled my garden space and I plan on tilling a couple of rows in my side yard to grow some potatoes. Others might think I am a retard but I seriously believe that we will have food shortages soon and I don't want to be the dumbass that is sitting at the dinner table with hungry kids without a damn thing to eat. |
