Exactly! The local Southern California Hospital has ZERO Coronavirus patients as of March 23. Fights from China were ongoing 4 months... Still nothing to panic over. Therefore if there is some enormous outbreak that’s actually valid, then something new would be introduced into the equation.

Yet many have never seen God and believe in him. Same for angels, demons, ufo's, aliens and Bigfoot. They have never seen any of these and they believe in them.

The problem with most is they are afraid of this virus. And they deal with it like the monsters under the bed and other things. If they don't acknowledge it, it isn't there. Sticking one's head in the sand doesn't work.

My dad is a senior living in FL, he and his wife are out shopping more than usual. It’s like they think they will see a green cloud coming towards them. They don’t understand that it’s there and that the CAN get it. A lot of people are being dumb.

It's normal for people to want to grasp at straws to avoid the truth when the truth is troublesome. So they say it only affects old people. They say it is a hoax. They say it is nothing more than the flu. Saying these things is not going to stop it from spreading. Carrying on about your daily business, spreading it around rather than sheltering, is merely going to prolong the agony. If we had closed everything down and required sheltering in place March 1 we wouldn't be having this discussion now, watching this thing slowly spread across the nation and many dying, as we are now. But you can't cure stupid. The only smart ones are the ones who saw the writing on the wall back in Jan/Feb and prepared ahead of time, or who are always prepared for emergencies.

Its not necessarily stupidity or lack of understanding. My dad doesn't give two shits about this virus and he's well aware that any flu or pneumonia will severely impact him as he's already got lung disease. My brother was trying to explain to him that he needs to take it seriously and quarantine and whatnot and was lamenting to me that dad doesn't get it...dad gets it, he's just more stubborn than we are and won't give up an inch of freedom without a gunfight.

It's not the existence that people doubt, it's the death rate when compared to the common cold that's the issue. So far I've seen nothing to suggest this is anything for me to worry about.

How contagious it is, is immaterial. All that's important is the mortality rate and as it stands it's less than the common seasonal flu by some margin.

I understand those who are vulnerable want to avoid taking risks, but they have this problem EVERY YEAR. Shutting down the GLOBAL economy for this is disproportionate.

No, New York Shut down 4 days ago. Most people don't even start showing symptoms for 5 days after exposure and then don't typically become critical until 12 days after exposure. Containment has little to do with this slowdown.

I said in several other threads yesterday that it would be 3 days and we would start seeing a leveling of cases. That is because most of the population has already been exposed over the last few weeks and its staring to break the spread. The same thing happened in China, Italy, and Spain. 12 days from the major uptick it reached a leveling point.
